February 1, 2017 – The Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) has become a “trusted friend” of award-winning spirit maker Kimo Sabe Mezcal, the new title sponsor of our Season 8 Player of the Year (POY) race.
Thanks to Kimo Sabe, a Sonorian Indian phrase that translates to “trusted friend” and is written on every bottle, the player that finishes atop the MSPT POY leaderboard at the end of the season will be awarded a package worth more than $10,000. That’s in addition to being featured on the cover of MSPT Magazine.
“Winning any yearlong Player of the Year race is a remarkable accomplishment, and we’re thrilled Kimo Sabe Mezcal is going to honor the MSPT Season 8 winner with a great prize package,” said MSPT President Bryan Mileski. “The Kimo Sabe lifestyle is that of no fear, peak experiences, and fun at the highest level of skill and conviviality. No one embodies that better than players on the MSPT.”
The winner of the MSPT Season 8 POY race, which runs the calendar year, will be awarded four MSPT Main Event seats ($4,400 value) to be used at events of their choosing, a seat into the MSPT Venetian summer event with $400 toward travel costs ($1,500 value), and $250 at each Main Event stop they attend up to $4,250*.
In addition, poker tax specialists Kondler & Associates, CPAs will provide the MSPT Season 8 Player of the Year with free tax services for the 2017 tax year ($800 value). This includes preparation of all tax forms (1040, 1099, etc.) as well as year-long tax planning and guidance.
Kimo Sabe is an award-winning mezcal, a distilled alcoholic beverage made from any type of agave plant native to Mexico. Unlike tequila, which can only be made with the Blue Agave plant, mezcal can be made with up to 42 varieties. Mezcal, like a multi-color picture,
has more ways to create complex depth of flavor than the black and white picture of tequila
Mezcal has, by law, lower high alcohols (the ones that make your brain hurt and lead to hangovers) than any other spirit including Tequila. Kimo Sabe, unlike any other spirit, uses sound technology to homogenize the molecules in the spirit. This makes the liquid clean and smooth from the first sip to the last note.
At the 10th Annual Judging of Craft Spirit Awards by the American Distilling Institute, Kimo Sabe was named Best of Class and Best of Agave Category. It was a remarkable honor for Jim and Ashley Walsh, the father-daughter team behind Kimo Sabe Mezcal.
You may also see poker pro Phil Hellmuth sipping Kimo Sabe Mezcal as he has been named a “Celebrity Trusted Friend” of the spirit, which is currently available in nine states and expected to be nationwide by the end of the year.
Kimo Sabe, which is currently available in two different alchemical expressions of Reposado and Joven, makes you ask – why settle for tequila when you can enjoy mezcal?
By becoming a sponsor of the MSPT, Kimo Sabe Mezcal will receive branding at events, on the live stream, and in both the MSPT blog and magazine. In addition, we will give a “Trusted Friend” toast before the start of each live-streamed Main Event final table, and also offer Kimo Sabe drink specials – such as the “Trusted Friend” Margarita and Paloma with IPA Addition -- at participating stops beginning this weekend at The Venetian’s MSPT Poker Bowl.
In Kimo Sabe, the MSPT knows you will find a trusted friend. For more on Kimo Sabe Mezcal, check them out online at kimosabemezcal.com. You can also follow them on Twitter @kimosabemezcal, like them on Facebook, and find them on Instagram.
*POY winner will not receive $250 at stops in which they opt to use credit toward a $1,100 Main Event seat.
