In May of 2012, Matt Kirby earned his first career win at the MSPT Northern Lights event in Walker, MN – just 45 minutes from his home town of Bemidji. From that point on, Kirby has been dominating live tournaments throughout the country.
Just one month after his win, Kirby went on to house a Rio Daily event during the WSOP for $52,085. He continued to crush by winning his second MSPT bracelet, accumulating $158,384 over a seven-month stretch.
To prove his impressive break out 2012 season was no fluke, Kirby more than doubled those numbers in 2013 by cashing 12 times for $338,159 including a second place finish at the Choctaw, OK WSOP Circuit Main Event for a career high cash of $192,751 – where he dominated the final table but wasn’t able to get a hand to hold up for the win.
“Matt is extremely dedicated and driven to be one of the best,” said Bryan Mileski, MSPT Founder and President. “He’s achieved so much in such a short period of time after just getting serious about playing poker in late-2010.”
Many fans know Kirby as one of the most loyal MSPT players on the Tour where he rarely misses a stop. Kirby is one of only two players to earn multiple wins on the MSPT and he owns one of the most impressive resumes on Tour that boasts 6 cashes (tied for 3rd all-time), 3 final tables (tied ,for 4th all-time) and earnings that exceed $100K (5th all-time).
