MSPT & Venetian to Combine for $300K GTD “Poker Bowl” February 2 - 4 in Las Vegas

Unless you’re at the Super Bowl itself, there’s no better place to be for the “Big Game” than in Las Vegas! Leading up to this year’s Super Bowl LI, the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) and The Venetian will combine forces to host the first annual “Poker Bowl.”

The $1,100 buy-in tournament will run from February 2-4, 2017 and feature a $300,000 guarantee. There will be two starting flights -- at Noon local time on Thursday, Feb. 2 and Friday, Feb. 3 -- and then return on Saturday, Feb. 4 to play down to a winner. That means players are guaranteed to have Sunday free to watch this year’s Super Bowl.

“For the past three years the summer’s MSPT Venetian has been a massive success, so it only made sense to offer players another chance at a huge payday,” said MSPT President Bryan Mileski. “What better time to hold a poker tournament than the days leading up to the biggest sporting event of the year. The ‘Poker Bowl’ gives our players the perfect excuse to visit Las Vegas for Super Bowl weekend!”

The “Poker Bowl” will mark the first time the MSPT has visited The Venetian outside of the summer months. In June 2016, the venue played host to the largest MSPT in history as 2,887 entrants took to the felt. Thomas Boivin emerged victorious in that event to win $352,153, the largest prize ever awarded on the MSPT. Other past winners of the MSPT Venetian include Angelina Rich, who defeated 1,964 runners in 2015 to win $215,815, and Drake Bronk, who topped a field of 854 entrants to win 2014’s inaugural event for $163,870.

The first-ever “Poker Bowl” is a part of the Venetian’s Deepstack Extravaganza, which will offer over $2.5 million in guaranteed prize pools from January 30 – February 27. In addition, we can reveal that the MSPT will once again return to The Venetian in June for a summer event with exact dates to be determined.

“We are excited to partner with the MSPT for two events in 2017 starting February 2-4 with DeepStack Extravaganza I and then again in June during DeepStack Extravaganza III,” said The Venetian poker room manager Tommy LaRosa. “These are sure to be can't miss events on the poker calendar with some of the largest fields and prize pools of the year.”

Here’s a look at the full Venetian Deepstack Extravaganza I schedule:

With 37 poker tables spreading games such as no-limit hold’em, pot-limit Omaha, and Omaha 8 of Better, as well as charging outlets, a smoke-free environment, tableside service, and a professional and courteous staff, The Venetian has established itself as one of Las Vegas’ premiere poker rooms.

In addition, they offer a poker rate for players interested in staying at either The Venetian or The Palazzo. In order to qualify, players must either play an average of six (6) cash game hours or a $300 buy-in tournament or above per day. Do that, and you can receive a rate of $129 for Sunday through Thursday nights and $179 for Friday and Saturday nights (there is also a $35 resort fee per night stayed). Terms and conditions apply, please visit Venetian.com for full details.
