Jitendra Patel Leads 47 Day 1b Survivors
Created (3/6/2016 12:46:17 AM by Admin System)

Jitendra Patel

Day 1b of the Mid-States Poker Tour bestbet Jacksonville Main Event drew 262 runners, which along with Day 1a's 197 runners brought the total field up to 459 entries, up from 421 a year ago.

The $445,230 prize pool, more than double the advertised $200,000 guarantee, will be distributed to the top 45 players, with the eventual winner taking home $112,990.

The man from Day 1b best positioned to make a run at it is Jitendra Patel, who bagged up 299,000 to finish as the flight's chip leader, a distinction that earned him a $1,000 bonus. A total of 47 players made it through the Day 1b field.

He'll actually start Day 2 behind another Patel… Day 1a chip leader Talesh Patel, who bagged 344,000 on Friday night. Meanwhile, others who bagged big on Day 1b were David Bradshaw (246,000), Wissam Shaya (208,000), David Jackson (188,000), and Detron Parks (185,000), who round out the top five.

Some others who advanced from the Day 1b flight, albeit with a bit smaller stacks, were World Series of Poker bracelet winner Andrew Badecker (178,500), Maurice Hawkins (163,500), Men Nguyen (150,500), Tuan Troung (115,000), Brett Silverman (81,000), and Josh Turner (32,000).

Day 2 of the MSPT bestbet Jacksonville, which will see the 47 Day 1b survivors join the 31 from Day 1a, will kick off at 11 a.m. local time on Sunday and play down to a winner. Be sure to join us then as we bring you all the action and eliminations straight from the tournament floor.

Figurine Wars
Created (3/5/2016 7:32:53 PM by Admin System)

Lion Da-One and Chris Brauch

Lion Da-One in Seat 1 and Chris Brauch in Seat 2, both from the Jacksonville area, are displaying the most unique good-luck figurines in the house tonight.

So far they are both working. Brauch is up to 78,000 and Da-One is hovering around 170,000.

As we walked up to the table, Da-One was involved in a small pot. On a 2h qd 7c flop, Da-One led out for 3,000 and his opponent called.

The turn was qc which prompted both players to check.

When the river landed the 10s, Da-One bet 7,000 and his opponent snap-called. Da-One showed qs jd for trip-queens and his opponent mucked.

Want Me to Double You Up?
Created (3/5/2016 7:21:19 PM by Admin System)

We arrived at the table with a board reading js 6s kc jc and a pile of chips in front of Rick Grant, along with an “all-in” card.

Action was on Jacksonville’s Wissam Shaya, who thought for a long time whether or not to call the 10,500.

Shaya turned to Grant and asked, “Want me to call?”

“It’s up to you,” came the response.

“Want me to double you up?”

“Yeah.”

“All right, I call.”

Shaya held the as qs and was behind Grants trips with jh qd . However, the river brought the 5s and Shaya spiked a flush to send Grant to the rail.

"I'll Never Fold for 7,000."
Created (3/5/2016 7:04:59 PM by Admin System)

Brett Silverman

With blinds at 500/1,000/100, Brett Silverman of Atlanta, Georgia was faced with a raise to 2,500 from the player in Seat 7. Silverman called holding ah js and on a 3s 10s 2d flop, his opponent put in his last 7,000.

“I’ll never fold for 7,000,” Silverman said as he separated that amount from his stack and dropped it in the middle.

The board ran out 4s 6s to give Silverman the jack-high flush, eliminating his opponent and lifting Silverman’s stack over 70,000.

Caruso Doubles Through Johnson
Created (3/5/2016 7:02:29 PM by Admin System)

Vincent Caruso

Vincent Caruso from Charlestown, South Carolina moved all in holding ac 10s and CJ Johnson from Jacksonville called with 9c 9s. It was a flip, but the flop 8h 9h 2h put Johnson way ahead, unfortunately the board ended up putting out a flush with ah and 4h so it was a chopped pot.

In the very next hand, Caruso moved all in with Ax Kx and Johnson calls with 7x 7x. It was another flip, but this time Caruso flopped good by making trip kings. It held and Caruso doubled to 19,100 while Johnson dropped to 6,200.

Cracking Kings and Queens
Created (3/5/2016 6:55:29 PM by Admin System)

Sebastien Charles just took down a big pot after calling a preflop minraise with 10x 7x against two players, who wound up holding Kx Kx and Qx Qx.

The 7x 7x 5x flop was gin for Charles, who ended up getting it all in with the player holding queens (the player with kings managed to get away). Neither the turn nor river influenced the hand, and Charles took down a huge pot to chip up to 163,600.
