Keith Doering Leads 30 Survivors After Day 1B

The second and final starting flight of the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Grand Falls $1,110 buy-in, $200K GTD is in the books.

Day 1b attracted 251 runners during Saturday's action, bringing the grand total to 463 entries (212 from Day 1a; 251 from 1b), generating a $447,610 prize pool.

Almost a full day of action was played to completion with the hard stop being reached with 17:59 remining in the final level of play after Keith Doering eliminated Josh Thomas in the final hand of the evening to extend his chip lead to 682,000, leading the 30 advancing players.

Following behind Doering was none other than MSPT Hall of Famer Rich Alsup who was able to end the night with 502,000. Rounding out the top five stacks were Mike Estes (441,000), MSPT champ Moon Ahmed (414,000), and Eric Hanson (389,000).

Others to punch their tickets to Day 2 were MSPT champs Umut Ozturk (365,000), Ben Wiora (298,000), Rodger Johnson (266,000), John Dennehy (226,000), and MSPT Hall of Famer Aaron Johnson (159,000).

Day 2 will get underway bright and early at 11 a.m. local time and play to a winner with 54 players returning to the felt so make sure to come back and find out who walks away the new MSPT Grand Falls Main Event champion!

Urbatsch Dodges for Late Night Double

Rob Urbatsch was all in preflop for 83,000 from the big blind and was called by MSPT champ Umut Ozturk from the button.

Urbatsch was out in front holding the better kicker but the flop came paired bringing possible chop outs.

The sweat continued for Urbatsch after the dealer turned the giving Ozturk the nut flush draw, but the completed the board on the river and secured his double-up.

There were five players who saw a flop and action was checked to Keith Doering who fired out 20,000 from the button.

Doering found three callers which included Ben Wiora from the small blind, taking action four-ways to the turn.

Action was checked around and the completed the board on the river.

Doering fired out a 35,000 bet and only Wiora check-called. Doering rolled over for a set fours and it was good as Wiora tossed into the muck.

Keith Doering raised from the cutoff and MSPT champ Ben Wiora defended his big blind to see a flop.

Wiora check-raised to 25,000 after Doering continued for 10,000 and Doering called.

The dealer then turned the putting three hearts on the board and both plyers checked bringing a fourthx on the river.

Wiora wasted no time moving out a 77,000 bet and Doering released his hand just as fast.

Action quickly folded back to Le who four-bet all in for 92,000 and Dennehey snap-called.
