JACK Cleveland Casino

For the first time this season, the MSPT traveled to JACK Cleveland Casino and played host to a five-Gold Card event series for the Season 17 Ohio Poker State Championship!

Kicking things off was Event #1: $400 NLH Tag Team, which saw 250 players team up to take to the field and generated a $40,000 prize pool that was paid out to the top 15 teams.

Among those to cash but fall before the final table were Ruslan Zakarchuk & Jeffrey Thornsbury (10^th Place - $820), Bryan Corrigan & Zachary Nelson (12^th Place - $820), and Darren Gensler & Salim El Boustani (15^th Place - $690).

Coming out the top team was Yung Lee & Robert Immel, who took home the $11,200 top prize along with their first Gold Cards!

Rusty Zahn was all-in preflop for 8,500 from the big blind, and Daniel Morrison gave him isolation from middle position.

The turn, however, fell the , pairing Zahn’s ace for him to take the lead, while the river secured his double-up.

Jameson Selvaggio opened under the gun for 3,000, and MSPT Hall of Famer Chris Moon called from the cutoff to see a flop.

Selvaggio led out with a 2,000 continuation bet, and Moon called, bringing the turn.

A 7,000 bet was then tossed into the middle from Selvaggio, and he was met with a call from Moon.

Once the completed the board on the river, Selvaggio fired out a final 17,000 bet, and Moon looked him up.

Selvaggio then tabled for trip aces, but he had kicker issues as Moon rolled over to collect the pot.

A series of preflop raises led to Steven Payten calling off his starting stack from the cutoff after MSPT Champ Jon Lewis put him all-in from middle position.

Payten rolled over the inferior made hand and stood from his seat before the flop hit the felt, improving him to a set.

The turn and river kept Payten in the lead, securing his double-up.

After notching his first-ever Main Event cash back in 2014, DJ Buckley has become one of the most consistent players on the tour, earning himself a record 82 Main Event cashes, and has started off the new Season by notching three in the first five events.

With a full season remaining, Buckley will look to keep notching the cashes underneath his belt, as he will look to become the first player ever to earn 100 Main Event cashes and take his seat in the coveted MSPT Hall of Fame.
