After 15 Levels of Play, the first registration day of the $1,100 MSPT East Chicago Main Event has come to a close. A total of 112 entrants registered for a piece of the $500,000 guarantee, with just 12 of them fortunate enough to secure a piece to play for on Monday, September 2nd.

Leading the way is Indiana resident William Stoller who ended his day with 596,000. Stoller’s Hendon mob dates back to the beginning of this year where he secured multiple cashes at the WSOPC Hammond Circuit as well as a cash at the MSPT’s biggest tournament of the year, Battle Creek. With this bag here, this tournament newcomer is proving himself once more on poker’s midwestern stages with a massive stack of 596,000 going into Day 2. He eliminated many players on his way to the top and looks to further capitalize on his Day 1 success on the final day.

End of Day 1A Chip Counts

Place Player Chip Count
1 William Stoller 596,000
2 Matthew Porter 419,000
3 Nohad Teliani 378,000
4 Curtis Vierstrate 337,000
5 Michael Holm 336,000
6 James Maahs 312,000
7 Josh Reichard 310,000
8 Chris Moon 205,000
9 Craig Casino 170,000
10 Perry Ernest 125,000
11 Ramon Rivera 98,000
12 Christopher Weber 70,000

Behind him in the counts is Matthew Porter (417,000) who has had multiple cashes and close calls at MSPTs around the midwest, and Canadian Nohad Teliani (378,000) who secures her first MSPT cash to add to her nearly half a million in lifetime earnings. Three former MSPT champions made it through the day as Curtis Vierstrate (337,000), Josh Reichard (310,000), and Chris Moon (205,000) all survived the day's troubles. Everyone of the twelve can look forward to three days of rest, knowing they have all secured themselves at least a minimum cash.

Others were not as lucky. MSPT champions Lee Rzentkowski and Dan Goepel were unable to get anything going in their quests to conquer a second title. Other regulars that fell by the wayside included Mark Lafata, Joe Batterman, Anthony Babic, Bryan Gwin, and Brad Sailor. They will all be looking towards the following couple of days in the hopes to secure a bag and a piece of this massive prize pool.

Play ended with 36:16 left on the clock in Level 15 with blinds at 3,000/6,000 with a 6,000 big blind ante. These 12 players will join the other survivors of the flights at this level unless another flight ends earlier.

Stay tuned to MSPT for all updates on the $1,100 Main Event at Ameristar in East Chicago.
