The Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Deadwood comes to its conclusion as the final day of the $1,110 buy-in, $200K GTD 2023 South Dakota State Poker Championship gets underway at 11 a.m. local time.
The two starting flights pulled together 434 total entries (218 from Day 1a; 216 from 1b), which was enough to blast the $200k GTD and generated a $419,480 prize pool.
A total of 53 players found a bag during the starting flights and those lucky enough to do so will be returning today for Day 2.
Starting the day with the overall chip lead is Robert Thompson who bagged large in Day 1a and looks to add his first MSPT title to his poker resumes.

Many formidable contenders reside outside the top 10 which include Rob Urbatsch (254,000), Lawrence Vigil (230,000), MSPT champs Rodger Johnson (227,000) & Umut Ozturk (151,000) and DJ Buckley (85,000).
There will be 53 players returning for Day 2 action, but only 45 spots will be grabbing a piece of the prize pool.
Starting the day fairly close to the money might make for some conservative play, but judging by the first two flights, the tournament should retain the action-filled play that has been up to this point.
A min-cash will be paying $2,307, but all eyes will be on the $92,286 first-place prize that the eventual champion will be taking home, along with the coveted custom Deadwood trophy,
