MIKE REYNOLDS WINS MSPT MESKWAKI CASINO, $81,060
Mike Reynolds of Chicago, Illinois won the Main Event Sunday night for $81,060 and the RF Moeller Diamond Championship Bracelet. This was the third time the MSPT has been to Meskwaki this season, and the smashing success of the events brought plans to return for three more events next year.
The final table was tough, with former champ Jason Seitz at the head of a strong group intent on first place. Reynolds hit the final table with a big chip lead at over 1.5 million, only to end up short stacked with six players remaining. The twists and turns sent Reynolds on a roller coaster ride that ended with $81K and the bracelet after a five hour long final table.
Reynolds plans to use the money to buy a condo in Las Vegas and play more poker there, and spoke highly of the MSPT structure. He plans to attend the MSPT event at Canterbury Park in early December as well, looking to score another big win. Reynolds defeated Jeff Grimes of Centralia, MO in a short heads up battle.
Grimes - a former two-time Jeopardy champion - hung tough throughout the final table, playing tight and getting a double up whenever he needed. Eventually the fun ride would end as Reynolds was able to defeat him heads up. Grives earned $43,421 for two days work and went home happy with plans to play future events. Grimes played his first MSPT event last month at Downstream Casino Resort in Quapaw, OK and said he is now hooked.
The next MSPT stop is at Grand Casino Mille Lacs in Onamia, Minnesota, November 10th - 18th.
