The MSPT and Silverado-Franklin Casino partnered to host the 2021 Deadwood Shootout October 22-24 in historic Deadwood, South Dakota. The $1,110 buy-in event boasted a $100K Guarantee which was crushed, attracting 387 runners!
Friday’s Day 1A brought in 175 entrants. Ryan Remington (446,000) of Gillette, WY bagged the largest stack of the flight. Rosie Paules (362,000) and Eric Atchison (331,000) were the only others to amass over 300K. Also advancing from Day 1A was Cy Church who has $258,482 MSPT career earnings, 15 MSPT Main Event cashes, and 3 MSPT Final Tables. 23 players moved on to Day 2.
Day 1B brought in another stacked field as 212 took their shot at life changing money. 30 players were able to secure a bag. Among those included Brandon Merrill (414,000), Sam Rooks (393,000), Cash Hepper (349,000), Ronald Kohner (330,000) and Frank Lucero (330,000).
53 of 387 returned for Day 2 with 45 slated to get paid. Terrance Reid (45 - $2,056) of Sioux Falls, SD cashed for the 6th time in Season 12 – just 1 behind Cy Church (7) for the most cashes thus far this year, being the first to go after the money bubble.
Only 2 of the final 9 players had ever reached a MSPT final table before. For Rosie Paules of Torrington, WY, this was her 3rd final ten appearance, her previous 2 appearances resulted in a 10th and 9th place finish. She definitely exceeded that this time, placing 2nd for $50,849. William Reynolds of Sioux City, IA was the other to have reached a MSPT final table, placing 10th in July 2019 for $6,200. Reynolds would make a deep run here exiting in 3rd for $37,015.
In the end it was Mark Steffen of Hot Springs, SD playing magnificently to earn his first MSPT Main Event cash and WIN to take home $82,256 for his largest career score!
