Day 1c of the MSPT $3,000,000 Guaranteed Mid-Season Championship at The Venetian is in the books with an incredible 1,162 entries in the flight. Combined with the entries from the two previous flights, the tournament now stands at 2,751 entries, closing on crushing the tournament guarantee with one flight remaining.
130 players advanced and will join the other 178 players from the first two starting flights taking the total number of players coming back for Day 2 on Friday up to a current total of 308.
Thuan Lam bagged the Day 1c chip lead with 550,000 in chips, behind Day 1b chip leader Cody Bell and his 635,000 in chips. The rest of the top five include Krasimir Yankov (486,500), Amad Shalan (485,500), Ryan Jaconetti (483,500), and Mazen Abdallah (470,500). Others to find a bag include WSOP bracelet winner Lisa Hamiltion (370,500), Jewook Oh (322,000), Nghia “3-Putts” Le (278,000), Mike Lang (274,500), Season 10 MSPT FireKeepers champ Chris Moon (207,500), Season 4 MSPT POY Pat Steele (204,500), WSOP bracelet winner Keven Stammen (174,500), former WPT POY Mukul Pahuja (134,000), Mark Bloomberg (121,500), Rich Dixon (104,000), Ty Reiman (77,000), former WSOP November Niners Bryan Piccioli (70,000) and Jeremy Ausmus (63,500), and two-time WSOP bracelet winner Erick Lindgren (51,500).
As the field grew, so did the list of notables who failed to qualify for Day 2. Among them were a who’s who of MSPT past champions including MSPT Hall of Famer Rich Alsup and former MSPT Players of the Year Chris Meyers and Aaron Johnson. Also falling by the wayside were past MSPT Champions Aaron Massey, Mike Itoafa, “DQ” Dan Hendrickson, Jeremy Dresch, Mike Shin, Mark Brazis, Kfir Nahum, Steve Federspiel, Tim Burden and Matt Kirby. Other notable names in the poker world missing out were Kathy Leibert, Jared Jaffee, WPT’s Tony Dunst, Joseph Chung, Faraz Jaka, Antione Saout, Alex Winter, DJ MacKinnon and Andrew Brokos.
The final flight of the event, Day 1d, will kick off at 12:10 p.m. local time and all players who have registered for the tournament will have their chips in play at the start of the day. Registration will remain open through the break after Level 9 (approximately 7:00 p.m. local time).
