Day 1a of the first-ever MSPT Club Poker Championship has come to an end at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, with the opening flight tallying 389 entries to kick things off.

With action needing to play down to 11% of the field, with 16 levels required to hit that mark, with the hard stop being reached with 36:05 remaining at 4,000/8,000/8,000.

When chips finally went into bags, it was Zhargal Tysdypov who found himself atop the chip counts, leading the 43 advancing players after putting a whopping 1,006,000 on his slip to end the night, bagging nearly double that of Tyler Schmidt (549,000) and Eric Seeliger (507,000), as they were the only others to clip the half-milly mark.

Rounding out the top five stacks after the first flight were Christie Yau (487,000) & Xay Xiong (479,000), while MSPT Hall of Famer Kou Vang (477,000), Tanner Pray (463,000), MSPT Champs Matt Porter (391,000)

Tim Gundrum (331,000), & Jeffrey Copeland (233,000), four-time MSPT Champ Dan Bekavac (217,000), the MSPT’s top casher DJ Buckley (93,000), and Season 16 Player of the Year Jake Long (88,000) all found a Day 2 berth after the first flight.

Among those to try and fall on Day 1a included Aaron Oas, Evan Bethyo, Anthony De Jesus, Arthur Zabronsky, and WSOP bracelet winner Mike Wilklow, just to name a few.

Those players, as well as any newcomers, have two more starting flights to jump back into action.

Day 1b will kick off at noon local time on Friday, while the third and final flight, Day 1c, will take place at the same time on Saturday.

The surviving players from each flight will then return at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday to play down to a winner.
