Cronin Leads The Final 33 Into Day 2
Created 1/15/2023 4:46:56 AM CST by Liam Gannon

The final flight of the MSPT Sycuan $1,110 Main Event saw a total of 277 entries come out to play and added to a grand total of 613 entrants for the entire event. 33 survived this flight, and they will join the 40 players from the other two flights, battling out for 63 spots all secured $2,254 and a first place prize of $124,553.

Leading the way of the flight is Daniel Cronin, who ended the day with 563,000. Cronin stayed for most of the day on the top of the leaderboard, but a massive pot at the end of the day where he bested Matt Carter’s top set with a straight, sent him skyrocketing into first of the flight. Cronin’s biggest cash prior was a victory for $4,432, and a deep run in this event could secure him his biggest lifetime cash.

Top Ten Chip Counts Of The Flight

Rank Name Chip Count
1 Daniel Cronin 562,000
2 Noel Eicher 474,000
3 Rigoberto Rodriguez 460,000
4 Justin Garcia 450,000
5 Kody Muir 417,000
6 Gabriel Habbaba 411,000
7 Kevin Dooley 355,000
8 Corey Peeples 329,000
9 Massoud Eskandari 286,000
10 Adrian Lopez 230,000

Others that came in nipping at his heels were Noel Eicher (474,000) and Rigoberto Rodriguez (460,000), each of them bagging a significant amount of chips. Former MSPT POY Rich Alsup did not have much success in the days leading up to today, but managed to find a bag worth 172,000. Much like Kyna England of yesterday’s flight, he will also be on the lookout to snag some early points to chase an opportunity to become MSPT’s first two-time player of the year. O

The road was not easy for all, as many MSPT staples fell by the wayside including Jason Crews, Benjamin Moon, DJ Buckley, Angela Jordison, Camille Brown, and the player of the series Michael Starek. Their chances of a main event title will have to wait for another stop.

Players will return tomorrow at 11 am with 38:45 left on the clock of level 14, with blinds at 2,000/4,000 with a 4,000 big blind ante. After this level, play will continue as normal with 40 minute levels, a break of ten minutes after every three levels, and a dinner break at the final table.

Stay tuned to MSPT.com for continuing coverage of the Sycuan Main Event. Play will continue until a champion is crowned.
