A wacky hand just played out here in the closing minutes of Day 1C.
It began when the player on the button opened for 7,600 and MSPT Meskwaki champ Nick Jivkov (pictured left) called from the small blind. Nicholas Depalma (right) then three-bet to 21,000 from the big, the original raiser folded, and Jivkov slid in a stack for a four-bet to 102,600.
Depalma thought that it had him covered and said, “Call.” He then tabled the not knowing he actually had 31,300 left over.
Much to the amusement of the table, the hand proceeded to the flop, which came down . Surprisingly, Jivkov moved all in and of course Depalma called off.
“You already there?” Depalma asked. Jivkov replied in the negative before showing his hand -- the for straight and flush draws.
The table oohed and awed at how things unfolded. The dealer then burned and turned the , which was a brick for Jivkov.
Depalma just needed to survive the river, and he did when the safe peeled off.
Nicholas Depalma - 270,000 (90 bb)
