A huge hand at Table 4 saw MSPT Hall of Famer Rich Alsup take out Paul Carney. Earlier in the day Carney just wanted to make an appearance on the blog… but I can guarantee he would have preferred for it to not happen like this.

Alsup in the cutoff, Carney in the small blind, and MSPT champion Rodger Johnson in the big blind went to a flop for 6,000, thanks to Alsup’s preflop raise.

Carney and Johnson checked to the preflop raiser Alsup, who wagered 6,500. Carney and Johnson both called.

Both of the blinds checked again, and this time Alsup bet 17,000. This time only Carney called, as Johnson bowed out.

After pondering his next move for a moment, Carney moved all in for his last 27,000. Alsup quickly called.

Both players runner-runnered full houses, but it was Alsup who comes out on top.

Despite having 0.3% to win on the flop and still only 4.5% to win by the turn, it was the MSPT Hall of Famer who emerged victorious. An apoplectic Carney could not believe his poor luck, and headed for the exit. Alsup, always the cool customer, collected the chips and now has about 180,000.
