Created 1/23/2025 11:27:51 PM CST by Anthony Thompson

Day 1a of the MSPT Season 16 Showdown Series $1,110 Main Event at Bally's Casino in Black Hawk, Colorado, has come to a close after seeing 119 entrants kick things off.

A hefty day of 15 levels were needed to hit the hard stop of 13 players being reached with 5:11 remaining in the final level at 3,000/6,000/6,000

Typically, judging the chip leader comes down to the wire, and that was just the case for Michael Banducci (699,000) who edged out Daniel Brewer (523,000), for the top stack after the opening flight.

Mike Wheeler ended the flight third in chips with 424,000 while Josh McClain (414,000), and Zach Ackley (287,000) rounded out the top five stacks.

Others to find a Day 2 berth include Danny Gonzales (284,000), MSPT champ & bracelet winner Mo Nuwwarah (158,000), Jacob Long (151,000), and Vinny Moscati (35,000).

MSPT Champ Michael Reynolds

Among those to try and fall on Day 1a included MSPT champ’s Michael Reynolds & Billy Gallegos, MSPT Hall of Famer Josh Reichard, WSOP bracelet winner Kevin Eyster, and defending champ Sherman Wu just to name a few.

WSOP Bracelet Winner Kevin Eyster

Those players, as well as any newcomers, have two more starting flights to jump back into action.

Day 1b will kick off at Noon local time Friday, while the third and final flight, Day 1c, will take place at the same time on Saturday.

The surviving players from each flight will then return at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday to play down to a winner.
