Vinny Moscati Wins MSPT Season 17 Bally's Black Hawk Showdown Series Main Event ($107,376)
Created 1/26/2026 12:32:07 AM CST by Anthony Thompson

The MSPT traveled to the beautiful mountainside at Bally's Casino in Black Hawk, Colorado, and hosted a 17-Gold Card Showdown Series, which was headlined by its $1,110 buy-in, $300K GTD Main Event.

A total of 528 entries were tallied across three starting flights, generating a $508,720 prize pool.

On Sunday, 59 players returned for Day 2 action, and after roughly 12 hours of action, it was start-of-day chip leader Vinny Moscati who denied three former champs a second title to come out on top to win the $107,376 top prize along with his first MSPT hardware!

“Feels great,” Moscati said after his win, “Seems like I’m always here on Day 2, but for like 15 bullets, but this time it was on one, and it feels good to get the win”, Moscati added with a big grin on his face.

The victory marked Moscati’s 14th Main Event cash on the tour, with ten of them coming from here in Black Hawk, and he finally got the steam he had been waiting for.

“It was great coming into the day with the chip lead, and when we got to the final table, I was second in chips next to Faraz,” Moscati continued to say, “I lost my first six all-ins, which were all flips, but I ran hot at the right time and was able to get them back.”

The win marked one of Moscati’s largest career scores, and with it, he also received a $3,500 seat into the MSPT Championship Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open (RRPO), which will be held at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida, Nov. 18 – Dec. 2, boasting a $2,000,000 GTD Main Event!

Day 2 Action

The final day came back with all 59 players already in the money, so action kicked right into gear with eliminations starting like wildfire, after which saw Hunter Cichy, Ryan Manning, and defending champ Antonio Vargas all falling in the first batch of eliminations.

Defending Champ Antonio Vargas

Payouts continued to be heard across the room, which saw WSOP bracelet winner Kevin Eyster (42nd Place - $2,447), two-time MSPT champ Tim Thorp (39th Place - $2,447), and MSPT Hall of Famer Gerald Cunniff (28th Place - $2,697) fall in quick succession of each other while the MSPT’s top casher DJ Buckley, made it to the final three-table redraw before exiting in 27th Place for $2,432.

DJ Buckley

The fast-paced action would continue as WSOP bracelet winner Ben Keeline (23rd Place - $3,646), Barb Visher (21st Place - $4,295), Aaron Thomas (19th Place - $6,237), and Dinh "Son" Nguyen (15th Place $5,993) all departed, setting the stage for the final table.

Final Table action

Once the final table was set, Jeremy Ahillen sat at the bottom of the chip counts, and it wouldn’t take long for him to get his stack in the middle, holding an offsuit ace-ten, only to get called by Scott Horvath holding a dominating Big Slick, making him the first final table elimination.

Scott Horvath

After a few levels of double-ups, Corey Dodd would call off his remaining stack holding a dominating ace-jack and against MSPT Champ Faraz Jaka’s ace-four, only to have a four fall on the river to end his run in eighth place.

After Dodd’s departure, bodies started falling after Horvath jammed a suited king-queen into Season 12 Player of the Year Kyna England’s pocket aces, and Kent Biel would follow him to the payout desk after being set up by England in sixth place for $20,476.

Season 12 Player of the Year Kyna England

England would then continue her elimination spree after she reeled in short-stack Roger Low’s chips in a big flip, sending him home in fifth place for $26,969, while MSPT Champ Justin Lynch was denied a second title after he was straightened out by soon-to-be champ Moscati in fourth place for $35,959.

The exit marked Lynch’s 5th final table appearance, bumping his world ranking to 45th place and brought his MSPT career earnings to $214,854.

MSPT Champ & Bracelet Winner Faraz Jaka

With England and Moscati starting to gain traction, Jaka needed to make a stand, and did with a suited king-nine, but he missed his flush draw to be dropped by England’s suited ace-three, denying him his second title almost one-year from when he won his first.

With the heads-up battle starting at an even match, it took a while for any significant pot to occur, but after a few levels went by with a couple of lead changes, Moscati was able to collect two crucial doubles to send England home with a runner-up finish for $66,930, while Moscati secured his first MSPT trophy and a payday good for $107,376!

This ends our coverage of yet another memorable stop in Black Hawk, but join us as we are headed to the Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, AR, to host the inaugural Diamond Poker Championship, January 29th - February 1st, and the MSPT team will be on hand providing updates for the $1,000,000 GTD $1,110 MAJOR Event, so make sure to come back and tune in!
