Oliwer Sankiewicz Bags Top Stack to Lead 10 Survivors After Day 1A of Main Event

A lengthy day of 16 levels has wrapped up during the MSPT $1,110 Main Event at Ameristar Casino Hotel with 10 of 94 entries making it through to Day 2.

Once the hard stop was reached in the last level, only 15:27 remained when Oliwer Sankiewicz put 487,000 in his bag to edge out MSPT champ Curtis Vierstraete(475,000) & Brad Sailor (467,000) for the top spot to lead the 10 advancing players.

Rounding out the top five stacks were Dillon Ellis (367,000) and Chris Thiel (267,000), while Timothy Gordon (257,000), Daniel Marshall (221,000), Jamie Eisenhut (130,000), Michael Kamenjarin (75,000), and Joseph Saltanovitz (68,000) all punched their ticket into Sunday’s Day 2.

Of course, not everyone was fortunate enough to make it through the night. Among those to fire and fall in Thursday’s flight were MSPT Hall of Famer’s Pat Steele, Josh Reichard & Aaron Johnson, two-time MSPT champ Chris Meyers, MSPT champ Dan Goepel, and Joe Batterman.

Those players, as well as any newcomers, have two more starting flights to jump back into action.

Day 1b will kick off at Noon local time on Friday, November 22nd while the third and final flight, Day 1c, will take place at the same time on Saturday, November 23rd.

The surviving players from each flight will then return at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 14th to play down to a winner.

Brad Sailor raised all in from the small blind and Andres Garcia called off his 78,000 stack from the big blind.

Garcia was at risk holding two overs but fell in a deep hole after a six appeared in the window on the flop.

The turn was no good for Garcia as it left him drawing dead to the needle river, ending his night on the bubble.

Martin Masar Tames the Monster Stack

For the second time season, the MSPT made its way to East Chicago, IN and players have been duking it out over the past week inside the Ameristar Casino for its 11-trophy event series!

Kicking things off was Event #1: $400 Monster Stack NLH, which saw 231 hunters take to the trenches and created a $77,385 prize pool, reserved for the top 23 players.

Among those to cash but fall before the final table were Justin Landi (11th Place - $1,379), Michael Kamenjarin (12th Place - $1,379), Jeff Halcomb (14th Place - $1,149), Luke Williams (16th Place - $1,034), and Joe Batterman (23rd Place - $736).

In the end, it was Martin Masar, who tamed the monster field to take down the lion's share of the prize pool along with the Sapdey trophy!

Chris Thiel raised to 16,000 from the hijack and Joe Saltanovitz tossed out his last 16,000 from the small blind.

Saltanovitz rolled over a dominated ace but didn’t mind the flop that fell giving him more outs with a gut shot straight draw.

Fortunately for Saltanovitz, he didn’t have to wait long as the dealer turned the to put him out in front and the river secured his double-up.
