The second of back-to-back Main Events at The Venetian has come to an end after 10 hours of play it was ”Scary” Terry Fleischer who was able to seize the moment and to become the newest MSPT Venetian $1,600 Poker Bowl Main Event Champion!
Fleischer came into the final day near the bottom of the counts and went for daily up and down rollercoaster after he dipped to the bottom on the chip counts with just two tables remaining.
"It was a crazy day”, Fleischer said after his victory. "I was down to just two big blinds with two tables left but was able to spin that up to 900k in 30-minutes.”
Fleischer, having 10 plus years in the game with cashes dating back to 2015, came close to securing his first title last summer here at The Venetian, but was happy to get his first win here today.
“It feels really good”, Fleischer continued to say, “You know, I’m getting old and only have a limited time left to do this, so I have to keep making the best of it... and I like beating up on these young guys.”
The win marks Fleischer’s eighth cash on the MSPT and has now amassed over $250,000!
Day 2 Action
The final day came back with 41 players already in the money, so action kicked right into gear with George Heim’s pocket aces being set-up by Andrew Burke’s pocket kings in the first hand of the day.
The final day set-ups continued with WSOP bracelet winner Ryan Laplante finding a third eight on the river sending Chad Himmelspach home in the third elimination of the day, only to fall in 25th place ($4,176) after his Big Slick fell victim you Yuzu Wang’s lucky sevens.
After Laplante’s departure, action across the final three tables continued with players dropping once by one as the march to the final table was on.
Among those to fall along the way albeit with a payday were, five-time bracelet winner Brian Yoon (24th Place - $4,176), three-time MSPT champ Eric Baldwin (14th Place - $5,465), Jason Brin (17th Place - $6,389), and Mystery Bounty runner-up Pedro Ingles (11th Place - $9,186).
Final Table Action
After players took their seats, it took almost a full level before Brian Kay was set-up by bracelet winner Dylan Linde to become the first final table elimination.
The very next level saw Evan Sandberg jam his short stack into MSPT champ Gerald Cunniff's pocket aces, making an eighth place departure while Linde rode a roller coaster until his pair of ladies was flushed out by Andrew Moreno.
In the same level, Jack Corrigan followed Linde to the payout desk when his ace-jack fell victim to Cunniff’s Big Slick and he made an exit in sixth place.
A few double ups would occur before Jeremey Becker bowed out in fifth place after he failed to make a flush against Cunniff holding a superior ace.
With four players remaining, Cunniff held almost half the chips in play until Stanley Weng turned a lucky four to even out the chips stacks which ultimately led to Cunniff taking a in fourth place for $39,181 after he was tripped up by Weng,
Three-handed action saw Weng holding half of the chips in play, while Fleischer held most of the other half with Moreno sitting at the bottom of the counts needing to make some moves.
Moreno was able to do just that, as he was able to secure an early double-up and started to gain some traction to take the three-handed chip lead.
Chips continued to shuffle during three-handed play until Fleischer secured a near triple-up with aces, and then gave some back to Weng who held a pair of aces a few short hands late.
After doubling up Weng, Fleischer was able to get some chips back after he straightened out Moreno in third place for 52,574, taking a commanding chip lead.
From there, the heads-up match saw Fleischer hold majority of the chips in play which ended with securing his first MSPT trophy with payday good for $98,101 after eliminating Weng with Big Slick who took a runner-up finish for $71,260.
