Terry Fleischer Wins the MSPT Venetian $1,600 Poker Bowl Main Event ($98,101)

The second of back-to-back Main Events at The Venetian has come to an end after 10 hours of play it was ”Scary” Terry Fleischer who was able to seize the moment and to become the newest MSPT Venetian $1,600 Poker Bowl Main Event Champion!

Fleischer came into the final day near the bottom of the counts and went for daily up and down rollercoaster after he dipped to the bottom on the chip counts with just two tables remaining.

"It was a crazy day”, Fleischer said after his victory. "I was down to just two big blinds with two tables left but was able to spin that up to 900k in 30-minutes.”

Fleischer, having 10 plus years in the game with cashes dating back to 2015, came close to securing his first title last summer here at The Venetian, but was happy to get his first win here today.

“It feels really good”, Fleischer continued to say, “You know, I’m getting old and only have a limited time left to do this, so I have to keep making the best of it... and I like beating up on these young guys.”

The win marks Fleischer’s eighth cash on the MSPT and has now amassed over $250,000!

Day 2 Action

The final day came back with 41 players already in the money, so action kicked right into gear with George Heim’s pocket aces being set-up by Andrew Burke’s pocket kings in the first hand of the day.

The final day set-ups continued with WSOP bracelet winner Ryan Laplante finding a third eight on the river sending Chad Himmelspach home in the third elimination of the day, only to fall in 25th place ($4,176) after his Big Slick fell victim you Yuzu Wang’s lucky sevens.

After Laplante’s departure, action across the final three tables continued with players dropping once by one as the march to the final table was on.

Among those to fall along the way albeit with a payday were, five-time bracelet winner Brian Yoon (24th Place - $4,176), three-time MSPT champ Eric Baldwin (14th Place - $5,465), Jason Brin (17th Place - $6,389), and Mystery Bounty runner-up Pedro Ingles (11th Place - $9,186).

Final Table Action

​After players took their seats, it took almost a full level before Brian Kay was set-up by bracelet winner Dylan Linde to become the first final table elimination.

The very next level saw Evan Sandberg jam his short stack into MSPT champ Gerald Cunniff's pocket aces, making an eighth place departure while Linde rode a roller coaster until his pair of ladies was flushed out by Andrew Moreno.

In the same level, Jack Corrigan ​followed Linde to the payout desk when his ace-jack fell victim to Cunniff’s Big Slick and he made an exit in sixth place.

A few double ups would occur before Jeremey Becker bowed out in fifth place after he failed to make a flush against Cunniff holding a superior ace.

With four players remaining, Cunniff held almost half the chips in play until Stanley Weng turned a lucky four to even out the chips stacks which ultimately led to Cunniff taking a in fourth place for $39,181 after he was tripped up by Weng,

Three-handed action saw Weng holding half of the chips in play, while Fleischer held most of the other half with Moreno sitting at the bottom of the counts needing to make some moves.

Moreno was able to do just that, as he was able to secure an early double-up and started to gain some traction to take the three-handed chip lead.

Chips continued to shuffle during three-handed play until Fleischer secured a near triple-up with aces, and then gave some back to Weng who held a pair of aces a few short hands late.

After doubling up Weng, Fleischer was able to get some chips back after he straightened out Moreno in third place for 52,574, taking a commanding chip lead.

From there, the heads-up match saw Fleischer hold majority of the chips in play which ended with securing his first MSPT trophy with payday good for $98,101 after eliminating Weng with Big Slick who took a runner-up finish for $71,260.

Weng was behind with kicker issues and things got worse after a king appeared in the window on the flop.

The turn wasn’t any help to Weng as it left him drawing dead to the river which ended his Main Event runner-up for $71,260.

Andrew Moreno Eliminated in 3rd Place ($52,475)

There was heads-up action between Terry Fleischer from the small and Andrew Moreno from the big blind with a board showing.

With over 1,000,000 already in the middle, Fleischer check-jammed for 3,760,000 after Moreno fired out a 480,000 bet, and Moreno called holding slightly less.

Fleischer pulled ahead after turning the straight, but Moreno still held outs as any diamond would win him the pot while a none diamond nine would chop it up.

Unfortunately for Moreno, the paired the board on the river and ended his Main Event run in third place for $52,475.

Weng Picks Up Rockets, Takes Back from Fleischer

Stanley Weng was all-in for 890,000 after a flop from the small blind and was called by Terry Fleischer from the big blind.

Fleischer flopped top pair but was still trailing Weng’s pocket ace, and the paired the board on the turn leaving Fleischer needing a lucky lady on the river to score the knockout.

Luckily for Weng, the completed the board and kept his Main Event hopes alive.

Fleischer Gets a Near Triple with Rockets

Terry Fleischer opened for 240,000 from the button only to have Andrew Moreno three-bet to 1,040,000 from the small blind and Stanley Weng four-bet jam for 3,945,000 from the small blind.

Action was back on Fleischer who called off his 1,995,000 stack while Moreno tossed into the muck.

Fleischer woke-up with the best made hand but the flop gave him a sweat as it gave Weng a Broadway draw.

Luckily for Fleischer, both the turn and river were bricks, securing him the massive pot.

Weng check-jammed after Cunniff continued for 300,000 and Cunniff called off his slightly shorter stack.

It was a rough flop for Cunniff as he held top pair only to see Weng roll over trip tens and the turn left him needing a queen on the river to stay alive.

Fleischer Calls Correctly, Takes the Chip Lead

There was heads-up action between Terry Fleischer from the cutoff and MSPT champ Gerald Cunniff from the big blind with a completed board showing.

With over 1,000,000 already in the middle, Fleischer was face with an all-in bet from Cunniff and ended up using all of his time banks before calling off his 1,765,000 stack.

It was a tough call for Fleischer, but it was the correct one as he collected his double-up to take the four-handed chip lead.

Weng Risks it for the Biscuit

Stanley Weng raised to 1,290,000 from the small blind leaving 130,000 behind and MSPT champ Gerald Cunniff called from the big bind.

Cunniff exposed his hand thinking Weng was all-in and the dealer dropped a flop after getting the word to resume the hand.

Weng quickly checked his option only to be faced with an all-in bet.

With most of his stack already in the middle, Weng reluctantly called off his remaining 130,000.

Weng didn’t want to put his remaining chips in the middle knowing Cunniff was still ahead, that was until the dealer turned the to put him in the lead.

The dealer then completed the board with the on the river and secured Weng’s double-up.

Jeremy Becker Eliminated in 5th Place ($29,669)

MSPT champ Gerald Cunniff raised the button and then called Jeremy Becker’s three-bet jam from the small blind.

Becker was at risk and dominated until the flop hit the felt pairing his six while also giving him the nut flush draw.

However, the hit the turn putting Cunniff back in the lead and the river eliminated Becker from the tournament.
