The MSPT introduced its new Regional Series format for the first time at Tropicana Evansville January 30 – February 3 which included a $250 Tag Team, $125 Seniors (50+) and a $125 Turbo Deepstack and was capped off with the popular $350 Regional Main Event.
The $250 Tag Team event kicked off the series on Wednesday, January 30. It was an overwhelming field attracting 79 teams and 301 total entrants. In the end it was locals Albert & Robbie Frank that earned the win, splitting the $8,428 first place prize.
On Thursday, January 31, 210 total runners came out to participate in the $125 MSPT Seniors (50+) Championship. Carl Masters, Albert Frank, John Gastineau and Mike Wilson worked a 4-day ICM deal to wrap up the event, with Masters of Clarksville, TN taking the largest share. First place was scheduled to pay $5,460.
David Wasson of Union City, IN took down the $125 Turbo Deepstack on Friday, February 1 by outlasting a field of 115 entrants. Wasson pocketed $3,450 for the win.
The series capped off with the popular $350 Regional Main Event where Carolyn Adams of Oak Grove, KY defeated a 587-entrant field to take home $35,663! For Adams this was her first ever MSPT cash and her largest career score. Adams defeated Kevin Leek heads up who earned his second MSPT cash. Leek’s prior score was a 14th place finish for $4,170 in the 2017 Indiana State Poker Championship also hosted by Tropicana Evansville.
