Mammen Holds The Lead; Baime, Yamada, and Pace All

After 14 levels of play, the second day of The $1,110 United States Poker Championship presented by MSPT at Sycuan Casino and Resort has come to an end. A total of142 players came out to this flight, leaving just 16 remaining at day's end.

Leading the way is Joshua Mammen, who ended their day with 615,000. Mammen saw a late night clash with Matthew Blagg send him up the chip counts as the MSPT newcomer looks to make his first Main Event cash a big one. Mammen has just $1,540 to his name in live earnings prior to this event, and a strong finish here could add a substantial sum to that number.

Top Ten End of Day Chip Counts

Three former MSPT Sycuan champions found bags today as Ken Baime (407,000), Derrick Yamada (293,000), and Gianluca Pace (212,000) all secured themselves seats to the second day of the tournament. With each of their resumes filled to the brim with tournament success, they will look to once more make their mark on this stop.

Others that found bags included Young Eum (424,000), Peter Cross (337,000), Adam Swan (297,000), and MSPT legends Sherry Hammers (179,000) and DJ Buckley (152,000). Each one of them looks to make this their first MSPT title.

Not all were able to find success today. Joseph Canez, Rich Lanes, Ebony Kenney, Camille Brown, and Matt Salsberg all were among the participants of the day’s activities, each one unable to find a bag at the end. MSPT staple Tom Hammers went out on the final hand of the night at the same time as Matthew Blagg going out, bringing the overall bagging number down to 16.

Blagg and Hammers Bust In The Last Hand of The Night

Tom Hammers moved all in for 41,000 from the hijack which saw Anthony Marquez call and all other players folded.

At the same time as this hand, Matthew Blagg was eliminated at the other table, bringing the overall player count down to 16 for bagging.

Ken Baime opened to 10,000 in early position which saw action fold around to Alex Greenblatt who moved all in for 92,000 which Baime called.

Hernandez Triples; Goulart Scoops Side

Elias Correa Goulart raised to 8,000 in middle position and Isaac Sluzky three bet to 24,000 in the hijack. In the big blind, Alex Hernandez moved all in for 46,000 which saw Goulart move all in for 121,000 effective which saw Sluzky contemplate his decision briefly before calling to put himself at risk.

The board ran out and the aces held for Hernandez to triple up while Goulart scooped Sluzky in the side pot.

Registration Closed

The registration period for Day 1b has closed which saw an uptick from last May’s event.

With 142 entrants, a total of 17 players will be ending the day unless 15 levels are played.

Salsberg Eliminates Kenney

Ebony Kenney moved all in for for 21,000 in early position which saw Matt Salsberg move all in from one seat over and everyone else folded.

Jared Greiner called in the small blind and in the big blind, Isaac Sluzky moved all in for 45,000 total and Greiner called to put himself at risk.

MSPT Sycuan Champions Collide

Gianluca Pace raised to 5,000 in first position and Ken Baime called in the big blind.

The flop came out and Baime checked over to Pace who bet 7,000. Baime raised to 20,000 and Pace moved all in for 56,000 which Baime called.
