Clint Wolcyn Leads 6 Surviving Players After Day 1A
Created (1/16/2026 12:35:54 AM by Anthony Thompson)

Day 1a of the inaugural MSPT $1,110 Golden State Poker Championship at Sycuan Casino & Resort is officially in the books with 47 entries tallied during the first flight.

With action needing to play down to 11% of the field,15 levels were needed to hit that mark, with the hard stop being reached with 25:00 remaining at 3,000/6,000/6,000.

When chips finally went into bags, it was Minnesota’s Clint Wolcyn, who turned a lucky lady to eliminate Rudy Cervantes in one of the final hands of the night to put 298,000 in his bag, leading the six advancing players by a slim margin.

Rip Fritzer

Bagging closely behind Wolcyn was Rip Fritzer, who busted Carlos Saucedo on the bubble to end the night with 295,000, while Steve Westberg (292,000) and Adrian Lopez (291,000) found themselves in the mix for the top spot.

They were joined by Scott Downey (142,000) and Brandon Fishman (94,000), as they were the last two to punch their ticket into Sunday’s Day 2.

Randy Shamo

Among those to try and fall on Day 1a included Randy Shamo, Zachary Himan, Di Wu, Anthony Bland, and Anastasiia Knapp, just to name a few.

Anastasiia Knapp

Those players, as well as any newcomers, have two more starting flights to jump back into action.

Day 1b will be the first, starting tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. local time, while the third and final flight, Day 1c, will take place at the same time on Saturday.

The surviving players from each flight will then return at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday to play down to a winner.

Join us tomorrow as we continue to bring you all the action and eliminations straight from the tournament floor at Sycuan Casino & Resort!
