The final flight of The MSPT $1,110 Main Event at Sycuan Resort and Casino has come to a close. A total of 178 entrants came out to play this flight, making the final tally for the event 393 which easily surpassed the $300,000 guarantee on the prizepool. 21 players from today’s flight made it through the day and will join the other 25 players from the previous two flights to see tomorrow’s reach 46 players. Players will return on the money bubble as 45 players will be guaranteed $2,088, with all eyes on the $83,536 to first place.
Taking the chip lead at the end of the night was Atrayon Trevino, who ended his day with 577,000, good for second overall in the tournament. Trevino is a California resident who has over $217k in lifetime earnings on Hendon Mob. Despite all of his accolades, a deep run in an MSPT has evaded him thus far. With his massive chip stack going into the second day, he looks to make his first MSPT deep run a memorable one.

Back to back tournament wins is a feat rarely accomplished in The MSPT circle, but defending champion Jason Mendoza looks to break that tradition. Bagging up a healthy 204,000, Mendoza’s experience in this field speaks for itself. He is one of two players coming back tomorrow who have won this event and the only one who can make it a back to back win and join the ranks of multiple MSPT winners.
Others who ended up bagging included Jonathan Frisch (304,000) who finished 5th place in January, ChipLeaderCoaching.com President Justin Lynch (292,000), Stephanie Wang (236,000), and Josue Aguirre (117,000). Not all were fortunate enough to find bags at the end of this final flight, MSPT champions Gianluca Pace, Umut Ozturk, and Gerald Cuniff fell by the wayside, while others like Massoud Eskandari, Linh Phan, and internet sensation Robbi Jade Lew all will have to wait for another time to win their first MSPT.
Play ended with 8:20 left in Level 14 at the end of the Day 1A which was earlier than the subsequent flights. The 46 players will return tomorrow at 11 am with hand for hand play kicking off immediately. After which they will play 40-minute levels for the remainder of the tournament until a champion is crowned. Stay tuned to MSPT.com for all updates regarding The Sycuan Main Event.
