Day 1a of the MSPT (Mid-States Poker Tour) $1,110 Missouri State Poker Championship at Hollywood Casino has come to a close after seeing 124 entrants kick things off.

Almost a full day of action was played to completion with the hard stop of 14 players being reached with 12:15 remaining in Level 14.

The final level was full of eliminations which saw chip leader Andrew Pichee’s 400k stack balloon to 829,000 to end the night, doubling Kevin Waldie’s 396,000 stack which was good enough for second overall.

Rounding out the top five stacks were Mark Lafata (376,000), Seniors winner Danny Shurtz (333,000), and Scott Sisler (320,000), with Brett Hagopian (313,000) also bagging north of 300k for a Day 2 berth.

Among those to try and fall on Day 1a included MSPT Hall of Famer Aaron Johnson, MSPT champ’s Steve Federspiel & Charlie Dawson, Lily Kiletto, and HB Sablotney, just to name a few.

Those players, as well as any newcomers, have two more starting flights to jump back into action. Day 1b will kick off at 3:00 p.m. local time Friday, while the third and final flight, Day 1c, will take place at the same time on Saturday.

The surviving players from each flight will then return at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday to play down to a winner.

MSPT Missouri State Poker Championship Remaining Schedule

After a flurry of eliminations, the hard stop of 14 players has been reached with 12:15 remaining in the level.

Andrew Barfield opened for 12,000 from the hijack and then called Jason Aken’s 61,000 three-bet jam from the cutoff.

Aken found himself in another race against Barfield and again was able to keep the lead after the runout gave him a set of sevens for the double-up.

For the fifth stop of its 15th season, the MSPT made its way to St. Louis for the Missouri State Poker Championship and players have been duking it out over the past week inside the Hollywood Casino for its 16-trophy event series!

In Event #13: $200 No-Limit Hold'em Epic Stack, 101 epic players took to the felt and generated a $16,160 prize pool that was paid out to the top 12 players.

Among those to cash but fall before the final table were Bradley Bocke (10th Place - $353), Jonathan Batye (11th Place - $353), and Andrew Allen (12th Place - $353).

When the dust settled, it was Colorado native Tyler Potts who took down the lion's share of the prize pool along with the Sapdey trophy!

Jason Aken was all in preflop for 50,000 from the hijack and was called by Andrew Barfield directly to his left.

Aken was racing for his tournament life and took a commanding lead after a ten appeared in the window on the flop.

The turn was safe for Aken and the completed the board on the river securing his double-up.

Over the past week, players have been inside the Hollywood Casino duking it out for the MSPT Missouri State Poker Championship in St. Louis, MO.

In Event #13: $200 No-Limit Hold'em Epic Stack, a total of 388 entries were tallied, and built a $46,560 prize pool that paid out to the top 21 teams.

Among those to cash but fall before the final table were Carol & Steven Walker (11th Place - $886), Noah Thornton & Brandon Thomas (13th Place - $698), and Mark Stacey & Marc Ferguson (16th Place - $606).

Coming out the top team was Christina Lofquist & Alexander Remiticado, who took home the MSPT trophies and $8,301!

Players have returned from their final 10-minute break meaning registration for Day 1a of the MSPT Season 15 $1,110 Missouri State Poker Championship is officially closed with 124 entrants tallied for the first flight.

The plan is to play through Level 15 unless 12% of the field (14 players) is reached first with the tournament clock reading 27 players remaining.
