Cord Garcia Soars to the Top After 20 Players Survive Day 1B of the Inaugural MSPT $1,100 Main Event at Parkwest Bicycle Casino
Created (11/8/2024 9:43:39 PM by Anthony Thompson)

A lengthy day of 15 Levels has wrapped up during the inaugural MSPT $1,100 Main Event at Parkwest Bicycle Casino as Day 1b drew 158 entries to bring the two-day total thus far to 256, with tomorrow’s final two starting flights still to go.

Of those 158 entries, only 20 players remained when chips went into bags, and it was WSOP bracelet winner Cord Garcia who went on a late-night heater to bag the top stack of 948,000, good enough for the overall top stack thus far.

Sitting behind Garcia was Andrew Ostapchenko whos 800,000 stack is good for the second overall stack heading into Day 2 while Marc Spitaleri (500,000) was the only other player to clip the half milly mark.

MSPT Champ Carl Oman

Rounding out the top five stacks were Ralph Castaneda (343,000), and Alex Avila (336,000) while MSPT champ Carl Oman (273,000), and Jason Hickey (205,000), were the only other players to bag north of 200k.

Jason Hickey

Much like Day 1a, the final levels of the night saw an onslaught of casualties, with players such as MSPT Hall of Famer Umut Ozturk, along with MSPT champ Ron West among those to be eliminated before play concluded for the night with chips flying all across the remaining tables.

Several other familiar players will also be joining the aforementioned five. Ty Dobbertin (183,000), Katherine Brandt (162,000), Dennis Stevermer (151,000), Triet Nguyen (80,000), and MSPT Hall of Famer Josh Reichard (69,000) are just a few more of the players to add their names to the Day 2 roster along with the 12 to have already advanced from Day 1a.

Katherine Brandt

The final two starting flights will get underway tomorrow Saturday, November 9th with Day 1c getting started bright and early at 10:00 a.m. while Day 1c Turbo will follow at 4:30 p.m.

The surviving players from each flight will then return at Noon on Sunday, November 10th to play down to a winner.

Garcia Wins Big to Jump atop the Counts
Created (11/8/2024 8:16:01 PM by Anthony Thompson)

Liron Cohen opened for 9,000 from middle position and found one caller from the hijack before WSOP bracelet winner Cord Garcia tossed out a 27,000 three-bet from the big blind.

Both Cohen and the hijack called, taking action three-ways to a flop.

Garcia wasted little time moving a 45,000 continuation bet in the middle and only Cohen called to see the turn.

Action went check-check, and the completed the board on the river.

Garcia glared at Cohen before making a 160,000 bet and the hefty price was too steep for Cohen as he released his hand into the muck.

Cord Garcia - 453,000
Liron Cohen - 200,000
