Day 1a of the first-ever MSPT $1,100 Nevada Poker State Championship at the Venetian Resort is officially in the books with 125 total entries tallied, and the talented field that entered came to play as action at the tables proved to be eventful from start to finish.

Only 15 levels were needed to hit 11% of the field, as the hard stop of 14 players was reached with 30:28 remaining at 3,000/5,000/5,000, with WSOP bracelet winner Nick Pupillo out-flopping Aditya Prasetyo in the final hand of the evening to end the night with 641,000.

Finishing not far behind Pupillo was Yuanzhi Cao, who maneuvered his way to a 580,000 stack, while Mikhail Sniatovskii (495,000), three-time WSOP bracelet winner David Jackson (382,000), and Jasper Yu (304,000), rounded out the top stacks.

Others who survived the first flight included Andrew Rodgers (237,000), Mohamed Serry (217,000), MSPT champ’s David Berger (202,000), ’Scary’ Terry Fleischer (175,000), and MSPT Hall of Famer Josh Reichard (98,000).

Among those to fire and fall in Thursday’s starting flight included MSPT champ Kfir Nahum, Hayley Hanna, two-time WSOP winner Barry Shulman, Mark Seif, and fellow MSPT champ James Romero were just a few who took their shot at a bag on Day 1a only to come up short.

All who have yet to advance will have two more starting flights to jump back in the action.

Day 1b will get underway at 11:10 a.m. on Friday, while Day 1c will take place at the same time on Saturday, September 27^th.

Late registration and re-entries will remain open through Level 9 (approximately 5:55 p.m.) for both flights.

The surviving players from the three starting flights will then return for Day 2 at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, September 28^th at 11:00 a.m. and will play down to a winner.

MSPT champ Dave Berger opened for 13,000 only to have WSOP bracelet winner Nick Pupillo fire out a 43,000 three-bet next to act.

Action quickly folded to Aditya Prasetyo, who moved his 45,000 stack into the middle from the big blind, and only Pupillo called.

Prasetyo was ahead holding a premium hand of ladies until the flop fell, giving Pupillo top two-pair.

The turn left Prasetyo needing some lady luck on the river to stay alive, but the completed the board and ended his night on the bubble.

Jasper Yu was all in for 118,000 after a flop from the big blind, and was called by Andrew Rodgers from under the gun.

Action on the table quickly folded to MSPT champ Terry Fleischer, who raised all in from the small blind, and fellow MSPT champ Fred Garcia called off his 52,000 stack from the big blind.
