Josh Meyer Wins Championship ($85,241)

After a grueling heads-up battle, Josh Meyer has finally put away Steve Wazwaz.

Meyer went all-in pre-flop and was immediately called by Wazwaz. Meyer turned over and led the of Wazwaz. The flop came out keep Meyer out in front. The rolled out on the turn and Meyer put his hands on his head saying, “One card away from an MSPT title.”

His wish was fulfilled as the hit the river and the championship was his.

Meyer takes home the 2019 Iowa State Poker Championship along with the top prize of $85,241. Steve Wazwaz winds up as the runner-up scoring $52,696.

Back And Forth, Meyer Leads

Through the first dozen or so hands, the players aren’t really getting out of line and are circling each other like the sharks they are.

The Duel Continues

It has been nothing short of a war between Steve Wazwaz and Josh Meyer tonight.

Wazwaz looked like he’d taken control three-handed but as the night wore on, Meyer has managed to work his way back into the fight. He briefly took the lead but once again slightly trails Wazwaz. Wazwaz sits at 4,255,000 with Meyer at 3,775,000.

Jesse Bowman Eliminated In 3rd Place ($38,360)

Jesse Bowman continued his comeback against Steve Wazwaz but he came up one card short in a dramatic hand to end his tournament.

Bowman fired in his last 1,100,000 chips and Wazwaz called setting up the showdown. Bowman turned up and trailed the of Wazwaz. Wazwaz picked up a flush draw on the flop but Bowman then pulled into the lead when the came on the turn. But the came on the river giving Wazwaz the flush and the elimination sending Bowman out of the event.

Wazwaz will take the chip lead into heads-up play with 4,910,000 chips against 3,120,000 chips for Josh Meyer.

Jesse Bowman finishes in 3rd place winning $38,360.

Meyer Doubles With Aces Full

Josh Meyer found the path to a double up early in Level 30, growing his stack back up to where he used to be when he was chip leader at this final table.
