Day 1B of the $1,100 MSPT Majestic Star Casino Main Event, the second MSPT Main Event of the year, brought in 174 entries, which along with 1A’s 135 created a total field of 309 runners. The top 36 players will get paid a minimum of $2,088, while the eventual winner will walk away with $68,593!
After 15 levels of play, just 28 players remained, with Brad Oliver and his 363,000 chip stack taking the overall chip lead into Day 2, ahead of Day 1A chip leader Barry Schmiess and his 343,000 stack. Oliver, who had an up and down day early, rocketed up the counts late to secure the top spot.
Other players to bag big include John Nelson (295,500), Jeff Brown (248,500), Adam Asbury (210,500), and Jeffrey Rasom (209,500). More players that found a Day 2 ticket include Jeff Minnerly (137,000), Jordan Miller (107,000), Sam DeSilva (75,000), Pat Steele (66,000), and George Dietz (55,000).
Among those who failed to advance to Day 2 included a host of former MSPT champs, including Taylor Howard, Andy Rubinberg, Dan Bekavac, Mike Shanahan, and Ben Wiora. Current MSPT POY leader and last week’s MSPT Cleveland Poker Open champ Sean Munjal made a run, but fell a few levels short of a bag. Former MSPT Majestic Star champ Ken Baime also missed out on a Day 2 bag, as did Colorado’s Ryan Dodson, Chad Holloway, and Cody Brinn.
The surviving 46 players from both flights will then return at 11 am sharp on Sunday to play down to a winner. Once the final table of ten is reached, action will be streamed on Twitch and MSPTpoker.com on a fifteen-minute delay.
Join us tomorrow as we continue to bring you all the action and eliminations on the way to crowning our second champion of the season here at Majestic Star Casino!
