Almost a full day of action was played to its conclusion at the 2023 Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) $1,110 Michigan State Poker Championship after a hard stop was reached with 3:32 remaining in Level 15.
The second of three flights drew a massive 990 entries, setting yet another venue record for a Day 1b field and has brought the two-day total thus far to 1,662, blowing past the $1,000,000 GTD with one flight remaining.
Of those 990 entries, only 116 players remained when chips went into bags with Marlon Perdomo (803,000) edging out Ryan Hiller (744,000) for the top stack this flight, with both now holding the top two stacks through the first two flights.
Rounding out the top five stacks of the day were Scott Hammett (696,000), Edzevit Alitovski (673,000), and Jeffery Kuc (625,000), being the only players to bag north of 600k.
Much like Day 1a, the final level of the night saw an onslaught of casualties, with players such as Jackie Burkhart among those to be eliminated before play concluded for the night with chips flying all across the remaining tables in the final level of play that led to a lot of players riding roller coasters with their stack sizes before becoming official for the evening.
Several other familiar players will also be joining the aforementioned five. MSPT champs Bobby Noel (561,000), Keith Heine (502,000) and MSPT Hall of Famer’s Rob WazWaz (492,000) & Pat Steele (310,000) are just a few more of the players to add their names to the Day 2 roster along with the 80 to have already advanced from Day 1a.
The final starting flight will get underway tomorrow at Noon local time, and it will be the last chance for players to punch their ticket into Sunday's Day 2.
Late registration and re-entries will remain open through Level 12 (approximately 9:10 p.m.)
Make sure to tune in to see who makes it through to Day 2.
