Raad Nasouri Leads 24 Survivors After Day 1C

Day 1c of the MSPT Season 15 Sycuan Showdown Series $1,110 Main Event drew 201 entries, the biggest field of all three starting flights, bringing the overall field up to 451.

The combined fields generated a $435,970 prize pool, and all on 53 players on the Day 2 roster will be getting paid a minimum of $2,000, while the eventual winner will walk away with a $93,771 first-place prize.

At the end of the third and final flight, players bagged and tagged with Raad Nasouri bagging the overall chip lead with 612,000.

The final level of the evening saw an onslaught of casualties which included MSPT Season 14 Player of the Year Umut Ozturk, MSPT champ Steve Wilkie and DJ Buckley, who in the final hand of the evening had his pocket aces set up Nasouri’s pocket sevens.

Others to bag big stacks where Weston Mizumoto (392,000), Ron Sengi (389,000), Sammy Weisman (386,000), & Jared Griener (375,000), as they were rounded out the top five stacks.

They were joined by Jessica Vierling (366,000), Rudy Shamo (356,000), Eider Cruz (289,000), Dillon Najor (258,000), and Taylor Bell (226,000).

The surviving players from all three flights – of which there are 53 (13 from Day 1a, 16 from 1b, and 24 from 1c) – will return at 11:00 a.m. local time on Sunday, January 14th to play down to a winner.

Jesus Bastardo Wins Second Trophy of the Series

Over the past week, the MSPT returned to San Deigo to kick off its 15th season and players have been duking it out at Sycuan Casino for its Showdown Series!

In Event #15: $250 No-Limit Hold'em Monster Stack, a 125-runner field took to the felt and generated a $25,000 prize pool that was reserved for the top 15 players.

Among those to cash but fall before the final table were Mary Sarver (10th place - $513), Richard Lanes (12th place - $513), and Jessica Vierling (15th place - $425).

When the dust settled, it was a familiar face who rose to the occasion once again.

After securing his first trophy of the series a day prior, local Jesus Bastardo was able to climb his way back into the winner's circle, claiming the top prize and his second trophy of the series!

Day 2 Roster Thus Far

So far, 29 players have punched their ticket into Day 2, and a final group of hopefuls will look to add their names to that list today.

All who make it through until the end of play will return tomorrow, Sunday, January 14th, at 11:00 a.m. for Day 2, where the remaining players from all starting flights will combine and play until a winner is declared.

Brown Flips Well Against Wolff

Brandon Brown raised from middle position and then called Mike Wolff’s 68,000 three-bet jam from the big blind.

Taijae Evans Wins Event #14

The MSPT returned to San Deigo to kick off its 15th season and players have been duking it out for the past week at Sycuan Casino for its Showdown Series!

In Event #14: $185 No-Limit Hold'em Epic Stack, 83 hopefuls took to the felt, and in the end, it was Taijae Evans who claimed the top spot for himself, along with the trophy!

Tyler Pizarro & Alexander Remiticado Dominate Tag Team Event

The Mid States Poker Tour (MSPT) returned to the Sycuan Casino & Resort and hosted a $300 NLH Tag Team Event during it's Showdown Series.

A total of 180 entries built a $20,700 prize pool that paid out to the top 9 teams.

Coming out the top team was Tyler Pizarro & Alexander Remiticado, who took home the MSPT trophies and $5,331!

Shamo Continues to Build

Jessica Vierling opened under the gun for 8,000 only to have Randy Shamo three-bet to 16,000 next to act, and the small blind for-bey jam for 103,000.

Action folded back to Vierling who released his hand into the muck while Shamo called, and the two players tabled their hands.
