MSPT Champ Steve Wilkie Takes Overall Chip Lead into to Day 2

Day 1c of the MSPT Season 16 Showdown Series Bally's Black Hawk $1,110 Main Event drew 277 entries, the biggest field of all three starting flights, bringing the overall field up to 636.

The combined fields generated a $615,420 prize pool, paying a minimum of $2,058, while the eventual winner will walk away with a $127,849 first-place prize.

At the end of the final flight, just 30 players bagged and tagged with MSPT champ Steve Wilkie going on a late-night elimination spree to take the overall chip lead into Day 2 with a whopping 968,000.

Wilkie caught seam at the end of the night, eliminating MSPT Hall of Famer Josh Reichard on the bubble, leading the remaining players by a wide margin with fellow champ Justin Lynch putting 713,000 into his bag to end the night, which is good enough for third overall for Day 2.

Dianwei Sun (593,000), Devin Weinberg (568,000), and Event #6 winner Zach Gutierrez (547,000) rounded out the top five stacks of this flight while back-to-back Player of the Year Umut Ozturk (322,000), MSPT champ Alex Cruz (206,000), and DJ Buckley (81,000) will be returning for Day 2 tomorrow.

Among those to try and fall on of a Day 2 Berth included defending champ Sherman Wu, MSPT champ Jason Beasley, and John Pierce just to name a few.

The surviving players from all three flights – of which there are 68 (13 from Day 1a, 25 from 1b, and 30 from 1c) – will return at 11:00 a.m. local time on Sunday, January 26th to play down to a winner.

Clash of the Titans Sees Steve Wilkie Drop Josh Reichard on the Bubble

MSPT champ Steve Wilkie limed-in under the gun only to call a 30,000 raise MSPT Hall of Famer Josh Reichard made directly to his left.

The two went heads-up to a flop and Wilkie check-called a continuation bet from Reichard, then did the same after the hit the turn.

Once the completed the board on the river, Wilkie moved all-in and Reichard thought for a few moments before deciding to risk his shorter stack.

Reichard quickly tabled but it was no good as Wilkie showed to eliminate him on the bubble.

Langford Calls Correctly for His Tournament Life

There was heads-up action between MSPT Hall of Famer Josh Reichard from middle position and Matt Langford from the button with a completed board showing.

With over 150,000 already in the middle, Reichard put Langford to the test and after some careful thought, Langford called off his 154,000 stack.

“Good hand,” Reichard said as he quickly released ten-high into the muck while Langford showed to collect the pot.

Wilkie Trips Up Jones for a KO

Dalton Jones was all in preflop for 120,000 from late position and was called by MSPT champ Steve Wilkie from the small blind.

It was a classic race with the flop giving Wilkie the lead with top pair.

The turn left Jones needing a nine on the river to stay alive, but the fell improving Wilkie to trip kings to send Jones home.

For the third stop of Season 16, the MSPT traveled to the beautiful mountainside of Black Hawk, Colorado and players have been inside Bally's Casino duking it out over the past week for its Showdown Series!

In Event #13: $200 NLH Monster Stack, a 40-player field took to the felt, and walking away the victor was Peter Le who claimed the Spadey trophy!

Lousberg Turns a Double

Chad Lousberg was all in preflop for 124,000 from the hijack and Jacob Gantz called from the cutoff.

Lousberg ran into a monster with nothing changing after the flop hit the felt.

The turn, however, came the to give Lousberg the lead, while the river secured his double-up.
