MSPT Champ Angela Jordison Soars to the Top to Lead the 25 Survivors After Day 1B

Day 1b of the MSPT Season 16 Bally's Black Hawk Showdown Series $1,110 Main Event has come to an end after seeing 240 entries take to the felt, taking the two-day total thus far to 359.

Of those 240 entries, only 25 players remained when chips went into bags with none other than MSPT champ Angela Jordison who had a late-night heater to put 715,000 in her bag for not only the top stack of the night, but good enough for the overall lead thus far.

Miguel Navarro was able to navigate his way to second in chips bagging 610,000, as he was the only other player to bag north of 600k while Nick Albertson (566,000), Event #13 winner Peter Le (560,000), and Sergio Martinez (412,000) rounded out the top five stacks.

WSOP bracelet winner Faraz Jaka was a late arrival but still ran up 360,000 stack while fellow bracelet winner Kevin Eyster (344,000), three-time MSPT champ Nick Barksdale (287,000), and newly added MSPT Hall of Famer Gerald Cunniff (131,000), are just a few more of the players to add their names to the Day 2 roster along with the 13 to have already advanced from Day 1a.

Among those to try and fall on Day 1b included regional champ John Loch, MSPT champ Mike Itoafa, Sean Hoesing, Barb Visher, and Dianwei Sun just to name a few.

The final starting flight will get underway tomorrow at noon local time, and it will be the last chance for players to punch their ticket into Sunday's Day 2.

Late registration and re-entries will remain open through Level 12 (approximately 9:10 p.m.)

Martinez Secures Double Elimination to Burst the Bubble

John Pierce open-jammed 44,000 from middle position and Thomas Carlin went over the top from the hijack before Sergio Martinez gave them isolation from the button.

Martinez woke-up with aces at the perfect time as the runout secured him the double elimination to burst the bubble in the final hand of the level.

Big Slick Does the Trick for Jordison

The big blind was all in preflop and was called by Ryan Hoeing from the cutoff, along with MSPT champ Angela Jordison from the button.

The flop fell and Hoeing check-folded to a bet from Jordison.

Jordison was ahead holding a dominating ace and the turn followed by the river secured her the elimination.

Barksdale Shows the Winner

Action on the table folded to three-time MSPT champ Nick Barksdale who raised to 13,000 from the hijack and was called by both the blinds.

The flop was checked to Barksdale who tossed out a 18,000 continuation bet and only David Litt check-called from the big blind.

Once the hit the turn, Litt check-called another 47,000 bet from Barksdale, and the river was checked to showdown.

Litt rolled over for some missed draws and Barksdale was happy to show to collect the pot.

So far, just 13 players have punched their ticket into Day 2 and another group of 26 hopefuls will look to add their names to that list tonight.

All who make it through until the end of play will return to action, Sunday, January 26^th at 11:00 a.m. for Day 2, where the remaining players from all starting flights will combine and play until a winner is declared.

MSPT Champ Michael Reynolds is a Four Card Master!

Over the past week, players have been inside Bally's Casino duking it out for the MSPT Season 16 Showdown Series in Black Hawk, Colorado.

In Event #12: 400 Pot-Limit Omaha, 45 four-card specialists took to the felt to duel it out for the top spot, and Michael Reynolds was able to claim the title for himself to take home the lion's share of the prize pool along with the Spadey trophy!

Jaka Sets Up Fullers Cowboys for a Double

WSOP bracelet winner Faraz Jaka was all in preflop from middle position and was called by Thomas Fuller from under the gun.

Fuller roller over the superior made hand but the flop gave Jaka a set of tens to take the lead.

The turn came with a sweat as it gave Fuller the club flush draw, but the completed the board on the river and secured Jaka his double-up.
