James Mordue Secures the Top Spot After 17 Players Advance from Day 1C
Created (7/12/2026 11:25:44 PM by Anthony Thompson)

Day 1c of the MSPT $1,100 Main Event 316 at the Venetian Resort attracted 148 runners, which, along with 1a's 114 and 1b’s 77, brings the total field up to 339 entries with three more flights still to go.

Once the day was completed, just 17 players bagged and tagged, with James Mordue bagging the top stack with 960,000, good enough for second overall for Day 2.

Josias Santos

Another player to catch steam throughout the day was Josias Santos, who ended the night with an impressive 691,000 stack to put into his bag, while Victor Fryda (628,000), Ken Einiger (460,000), and Elvyn Bello Santos (450,000) rounded out the top five stacks of the flight.

Oli Sankiewicz

They were joined by Oli Sankiewicz (329,000), Michael Linster (310,000), Ken Bidinger (308,000), and WSOP bracelet winner Ian O’Hara (166,000), as each will be returning for Day 2 action.

Jim Agate

Among those not as lucky at the felt included Jim Agate, Matt Salsberg, MSPT Champ Peter Brown, Justin Young, Michael Rossitto, and 2006 WSOP Main Event Champ Jamie Gold.

2006 WSOP Main Event Champ Jamie Gold

All who have yet to advance will have three more starting flights to jump back into the action, with Day 1d already underway.

The final two starting flights will then take place tomorrow, Monday, July 13th, with Day 1e starting at 10:10 a.m. and Day 1f (turbo) starting at 6:10 p.m.

The surviving players from each flight will then return at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14th, and will play down to a winner.

Mark Feil moved his 40,000 into the middle from early position, and action folded around to Elvyn Bello Santos, who looked him up from the big blind.

Ray Pulford opened under the gun for 20,000, only to have Shijia Liu three-bet jam 52,000 from late position, and Oli Sankiewicz go over the top from the big blind.

With action back on Pulford, he decided to release his hand into the muck, leaving the other two heads-up.

Katchalov's Full Hose is Better, Doubles Through

Eugene Katchalov raised the button only to call a 36,000 three-bet Josias Santos fired out from the big blind.

The two then went heads-up to a flop, and all the chips went into the middle with Katchalov holding 91,000 effective.

Eugene Katchalov:
Josias Santos:

Katchalov was in the lead after flopping trip queens, and the running on the turn and river gave him a better full house to collect a double-up through Santos.

Fryda Doesn't Believe Alban and Ends Up Paying Costly Price
Created (7/12/2026 9:15:15 PM by Anthony Thompson)

Photo: Joseph Alban

Victor Fryda opened with a button raise, only to call a 27,000 three-bet from Joseph Alban in the big blind.

Once the flop hit the felt, Alban led out with a 48,000 continuation bet, and Fryda called to see the turn.

Alban then upped his ante by moving his remaining 124,000 into the middle, and after careful thought, Fryda called.

Joseph Alban:
Victor Fryda:

Alban was ahead holding a premium hand of kings, and the river secured his double-up.
