Andrew Hoppenjans Finds His Way to the Top to Lead 26 Survivors After Day 1B of the MSPT Season 17 JACK Cleveland $1,110 Main Event

Another full day of action occurred during Day 1b of the MSPT Season 17 JACK Cleveland $1,110 Main Event, as almost 14 full levels were needed to hit 11% of the field, with 11:52 remaining at 3,000/5,000/5,000.

The second of three flights drew 243 total entries, bringing the two-day total thus far to 408, with one flight remaining.

Of those 243 entries, just 26 players remained when pens went to slips, and Andrew Hoppenjans found himself atop the counts with 687,000, good enough for the overall stack through the two starting flights.

Following behind Hoppenjans was Khachatur Pohosian, who secured a double knockout at the end of the night to put 581,000 on his slip, while Edward Tancredi burst the bubble with a staright flush over a full house to bag 552,000, as they are the only others to bag 500k, rounding thus far.

Rounding out the top five stacks of the first flight were Alec Magdan (434,000), Max Rastatter (416,000), while last year’s runner-up finisher Haroldo Perez (338,000), MSPT Hall of Famer Josh Reichard (337,000), two-time MSPT State Champ Mike Estes (221,000), and fellow MSPT Champ Hamid Izadi (217,000) are just a few more of the players to add their names to the Day 2 roster, along with the 19 to have already advanced from Day 1a.

Among those not as lucky at the felt were Carlton Taylor, Grigor Hakobyan, Michael Reck, Nazim Temiz, Steven Lascola, and Nicole Bartko, with at least a few, if not all, of them likely to be seen back in action for the final flight.

The final starting flight for the Main Event is scheduled for tomorrow, beginning at 12:15 p.m. EST.

This is a best-stack forward event: If a player qualifies for Day 2 more than once, they may only play the higher chip stack; any lower stack(s) will be removed from play at the start of Day 2 and receive the lowest Day 2 payout.

Player of the Year points will only be awarded for the higher stack. Players will only receive credit for a single MSPT Main Event cash finish.

Everyone who makes Day 2 will return on Sunday at 11:15 a.m. to play for the Season 17 MSPT $1,110 Main Event Title at JACK Cleveland Casino.

Straight Flush Over Full House Ends Play for the Night

Nick Lanzi and Eddie Tancredi limped in from the blinds to see a flop.

Lanzi led out with a 10,000 bet from the small blind, and Tancredi called from the big blind, bringing the turn.

A 20,000 bet was then tossed in the middle by Lanzi, and Tancredi met him with a call.

Once the completed the board on the river, Lanzi upped his bet to 100,000 and then called off his remaining stack after Tancredi raised all-in.

Tancredi then rolled over for a straight flush, and it was a heartbreaker for Lanzi as he tabled for a full house, only to take his exit on the bubble.

Reichard Finds a Triple Up with a Set of Threes

MSPT Hall of Famer Josh Reichard raised under the gun and found seven callers who saw a flop.

A couple of knocks on the table saw Reichard fire out a continuation bet, and Max Rastatter called next to act before Anthony Leshanck raised all-in for 140,000.

Action quickly folded back to Reichard, who called off his 118,000 stack, and Rastatter stuck his chips in the middle to put both players at risk.

Reichard was in the lead holding a sneaky set of threes and faded the turn and river to collect a triple-up, while Leshanck collected the side pot.

Big Blind Special Secures Buckley a Double

Henry Pernalete raised to 10,000 from middle position and found one caller before DJ Buckley squeezed his 26,000 stack in the middle from the big blind.

With action back on Montero, he decided to four-bet jam over the top, giving Buckley isolation.

Buckley was way behind needing help, and found a little after the flop paired his ten.

The turn then left Buckley needing some help, and he stood up from his chair only to sit back down after the dealer dropped the on the river, securing his double-up.

Kopp Doubles Through Reed Only to Fall to Him Shortly After

David Reed raised and then called WSOP bracelet winner Billy Kopp’s 30,000 three-bet jam from middle position.

Day 1B Registration Closed

Players have returned from their fourth break of the evening, meaning registration is now closed for Day 1b of the MSPT Season 17 JACK Cleveland $1,110 Main Event.

A total of 243 entries were recorded in this flight, which along with the 165 entries from Day 1a, the total entries for the tournament now stand at 408, with one flight still to come tomorrow.

The plan is to play until the hard stop of 11% of the field (27 players) is reached.

Yesterday’s Day 1a saw 19 players advance, and the tournament clock now reads 45 players remaining, with 27 hopefuls looking to join them as we head into the final levels of play this evening.
