Day 1b of the MSPT $3,000,000 Guaranteed Mid-Season Championship at The Venetian wrapped up as 986 entries hit the felt. Adding into the entries from Day 1, the tournament now stands at 1,589 entrants, putting the tournament well on the way to meeting its guarantee.
110 players advanced and will join the other 68 players from Day 1a taking the total number of players advancing to Day 2 up to 178 so far.
Cody Bell finished as the chip leader bagging 635,000 chips to take the overall chip lead. Other top stacks advancing to Day 2 out of tonight’s flight include Aaron Dalnoot (569,000), Ariel Celestino (537,000), Christopher Caruso (449,500), and Dustin Nelson at 435,000. Other notables making it through include Nick Ahmadi (336,500), Tyler Hong (322,500), Frankie Flowers (245,000), Greg Himmelbrand (137,000) and Tyler Patterson (84,500).
It was not the day for quite a few notables including three-time MSPT Champion Carl Carodenuto, Season 8 Player of the Year Chris Meyers, nine-time WSOP Circuit Event ring winner Robert Hankins, MSPT Regional Champions Saad Ghanem and Blake Whittington, former MSPT Venetian Champions Kfir Nahum and Angelina Rich, and former MSPT Champions Ahmed Taleb, Mike Itoafa and Steve Federspiel. Also coming up short were Keven Stammen, Wendy Freedman, Alex Jacob, Dan Heimiller, Erick Lindgren, Lexy Gavin, Kathy Liebert and Catherine Dever.
Tomorrow’s Day 1c flight will kick off at 12:10 p.m. local time and all players who have registered for the tournament will have their chips in play at the start of the day. One more flight is available on Thursday at the same time and players who bagged may play subsequent flights as The Venetian utilizes “best stack forward” for players who bag multiple flights. Registration for Day 1d will open just after the previous flight’s registration closes, which is after the break after Level 9 (approximately 7 p.m. local time).
