MSPT Hall of Famer Rich Alsup Bags Large to Lead 24 Advancing Players After Day 1B
Created 11/2/2024 2:18:55 AM CST by Anthony Thompson

A lengthy has wrapped up during Day 1b of the MSPT Season 15 $1,110 Main Event at Riverside Casino as the second of three flights drew 225 entries to bring the two-day total thus far to 288, solidifying that the $300K GTD will be surpassed in tomorrow’s final flight.

Of those 225 entries, only 24 players remained when chips went into bags, and it was MSPT Hall of Famer Richard Alsup (813,000), who outdistanced himself from the rest to bag this flight’s chip lead, which is also good enough for second overall for Day 2 thus far.

Following behind Alsup was Brett “Pops” Reichard who caught steam at the end of the night a to put 695,000 into his bag while Loren Rice (630,000), Michael Puccio (436,000), and two-time MSPT champ John Sun (435,000) rounded out the top five stacks.

Much like Day 1a, the final levels of the night saw an onslaught of casualties, with players such as MSPT Hall of Famer’s Aaron Johnson and Rob WazWaz among those to be eliminated before play concluded for the night with chips flying all across the remaining tables.

Several other familiar players will also be joining the aforementioned five. MSPT champs Mo Nuwwarah (370,000), Chris Audrain (327,000), Angela Jordison (212,000), & Umut Ozturk (179,000) are just a few more of the players to add their names to the Day 2 roster along with the six to have already advanced from Day 1a.

The final starting flight will get underway tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. Late registration and re-entries will remain open through Level 12 (approximately 10:40 p.m.).

WazWaz led out with a 24,000 bet and then called off his remaining 60,000 after Vierstraete put him all in.

Vierstraete rolled over for nines full of eights and it was good as WaWaz tossed into the muck ending play for the night.

Miles Barnum raised from middle position and was called by MSPT Hall of Famer Rich Alsup from the button, along with Loren Rice from the big blind.

The flop was checked to Alsup who fired out a 20,000 bet only to have Rice check-raise to 60,000.

After Barnum spent some time in the tank, he released his hand into the muck and Alsup called to see the turn.

Rice wasted little time moving a 100,000 stack in the middle and Alsup gave him a glare before tossing his hand into the muck.
