MSPT Hall of Famer Rob WazWaz Soars to the Top to Lead 26 Survivors After Day 1A
Created 3/22/2025 1:49:41 AM CST by Anthony Thompson

Day 1a of the MSPT Grand Falls $1,110 Main Event drew an incredible 243 entries to kick things off, blasting past the tournament's $200,000 guaranteed prize pool with one flight still to go.

Plenty of players made their way to Grand Falls Casino, creating a room full of MSPT champs, Icons, and Hall of Famers.

With chips flying and players dropping throughout the day, play tightened up in the later levels as only 11% of the field was finding a Day 2 berth and that mark was hit with 33:15 remaining in Level 16 (4,000/8,000/8,000).

Once players put pens to slips, it was MSPT Hall of Famer Rob WazWaz who ended up leading the pack of 26 with a whopping 887,000.

WazWaz was seen stacking chips all day long and he kept that moment going throughout the day after he secured the final elimination of Michael Wilklow to end the night.

Fellow MSPT Hall of Famer Josh Reichard was able to find the second spot on the leaderboard, also due to a late-night heater as well. After coming in with a starting stack after registration, Reichard was able to get hot at the right time and spun up a 644,000 stack in the final levels of the evening.

A familiar Reg Powell was able to hold his own throughout the day as well, finishing the day with 580,000, while WSOP bracelet winner TJ Murphy (579,000), and MSPT champ Angela Jordison (544,000) rounded out the top five stacks.

MSPT Champ Angela Jordison

Others that advanced included fellow MSPT champ Curtis Vierstraete (426,000), DJ Buckley (422,000), Brett “Pops” Reichard (257,000), fellow champ Justin Lynch (255,000), and Loki Abboud (216,000).

MSPT Hall of Famer Rich Alsup

Among those to try and fall on Day 1a included MSPT Hall of Famer Rich Alsup, MSPT champ Erv Bjerga, Dennis Stevermer, two-time MSPT champ Taylor Howard and Caden Coleman, just to name a few.

Dennis Stevermer

All who did not bag will have one more flight to try and do so, with that being held tomorrow Saturday, March 22nd at 2:00 p.m. local time.

As usual, the live reporting team will be back at it then, so be sure to come back and see who else adds their name to Sunday's Day 2 roster.

Michael Wilklow:
Rob WazWaz:

Wilklow rolled over the better made hand but said, “You’ll probably win, I’ve been running really bad here,” just before the dealer peeled off a nasty flop.

The turn left Wilklow needing the case king on the river to stay alive, but the river ended his night on the bubble.

WazWaz Gets Paid with Money River
Created 3/22/2025 12:35:24 AM CST by Anthony Thompson

MSPT Hall of Famer Rob WazWaz opened for 15,000 from late position only to call a 30,000 three-bet four-time MSPT champ Dan Bekavac made from the cutoff.

The two went heads-up to a flop and WazWaz check-called a 40,000 continuation bet from Bekavac bringing the turn.

Both players then checked their options and the dealer dropped the on the river putting a straight on the board.

WazWaz then led out with a healthy 150,000 bet and Bekavac said, “This is disgusting, I already had the nine and was trying to trap,” before making the call.

“Straight,” WazWaz announced as he showed for the ten-high straight as Bekavac tossed into the muck.

"Pops" Cools Off Nuwwarah for Largest Pot of the Night Thus Far
Created 3/21/2025 11:38:23 PM CST by Anthony Thompson

Reg Powell opened under the gun for 12,000 only to have MSPT champ Mo Nuwwarah three-bet to 30,000 next to act, and Brett “Pops” Reichard four-bet to 100,000 from the small blind.

Action folded back to Powell who decided to release his hand into the muck while Nuwwarah made the call, bringing about a flop.

Reichard then fired out a 60,000 continuation bet only to call off his 348,000 stack after Nuwwarah raised all-in for 100,000 more.

Brett “Pops” Reichard:
Mo Nuwwarah:

It was a cooler for Nuwwarah as Reichard rolled over the best made hand, and the turn followed by the river secured Reichard the biggest pot of the night thus far.

Nuwwarah was then left with 100,000 after the hand and was eliminated soon after.

Brett “Pops” Reichard - 930,000
Mo Nuwwarah - 0
