Day 1c of the MSPT Season 17 Riverside $1,110 Main Event attracted 269 runners, which, along with 1a’s 114 and 1b’s 225, brought the total field up to 608 entries, shattering the $300k guarantee.
The field generated a $589,148 prize pool, which will pay a minimum of $2,197, while the eventual winner will walk away with a $121,414 first-place prize, along with the Main Event trophy, and a $3,500 into the ROCK ‘N’ ROLL POKER OPEN MSPT Championship at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, FL.
At the end of the third and final flight, just 30 players bagged and tagged, with Clint Wolcyn claiming the top spot with 845,000 to take into Day 2, which is good enough for the overall chip lead.
Wes Cannon
Wolcyn went on a late-night heater to distance himself from Wes Cannon (686,000), Zach Heiman(620,000), Charlie Reichard (614,000), and the inaugural Spade Poker Champion Merritt Kuhn (590,000) for the top spot as they rounded out the top five stacks.
Defending Champ Anthony Kastelic
Others who survived the final flight included MSPT Champ Bee Yang (571,000), Jason Crews (375,000), MSPT Hall of Famer Rich Alsup (208,000), the MSPT’s top casher DJ Buckley (106,000), defending Champ Anthony Kastelic (101,000), and two-time MSPT Champ Angela Jordison (40,000).
2024 MSPT Riverside Champ Jake Wilding
Of course, not everyone was so lucky as the likes of 2024 MSPT Riverside Champ Jake Wilding, WSOP bracelet winner John Reading, Mark Lafata, Sarah Stefan, Joseph Saltanovitz, and MSPT Champ Jeff Copeland, all of whom fell short of clinching a Day 2 berth.
MSPT Champ Jeff Copeland
All surviving players from the starting flights – of which there are 66 (13 from Day 1a, 25 from 1b, and 28 from 1c) – will return at 11:00 a.m. local time on Sunday, March 22nd, to play down to a winner.
The MSPT live reporting crew will be on the floor throughout the remainder of the tournament to provide updates, so keep it here to catch the action!
