A full day of action was played to its conclusion at the MSPT (Mid-States Poker Tour) Season 15 FireKeepers $1,110 Main Event after the second of three flights drew a whopping 983 entries to bring the two-day total thus far to 1,629, blowing past the $1,000,000 GTD with one flight remaining.
Of those 983 entries, only 119 players remained when chips went into bags with Sean Pitzer (791,000) edging out Ryan Hiller (780,000), and MSPT Hall of Famer Josh Reichard (752,000) for the top stack this flight, good enough for the overall chip lead thus far.
MSPT champ Chris Meyers (660,000) and Kurt Smith (599,000) rounded out the top five stacks while three-time bracelet winner Dash Dudley (574,000), and MSPT Hall of Famer Umut Ozturk (534,000) both bagged healthy stacks.
Much like Day 1a, the final level of the night saw an onslaught of casualties, with players such as four-time MSPT champ Dan Bekavac among those to be eliminated before play concluded for the night with chips flying all across the remaining tables in the final level of play that led to a lot of players riding roller coasters with their stack sizes before becoming official for the evening.
Several other familiar players will also be joining the aforementioned five. MSPT champ Sean Hinton (450,000), WSOP bracelet winner Billy Kopp (443,000), MSPT Hall of Famer Aaron Johnson (331,000), MSPT champ Chris Moon (311,000), and fellow Hall of Famer Kou Vang (282,000) are just a few more of the players to add their names to the Day 2 roster along with the 76 to have already advanced from Day 1a.
The final starting flight will get underway tomorrow at Noon local time, and it will be the last chance for players to punch their ticket into Sunday's Day 2.
Late registration and re-entries will remain open through Level 12 (approximately 9:10 p.m.) and everyone who makes Day 2 will return on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. to play for the Season 15 MSPT $1,110 Main Event Title at FireKeepers Casino.
Congratulations to everyone who advanced to Day 2.
