Day 1c of the MSPT $1,110 Iowa State Poker Championship at Riverside Casino is in the books after recording 231 entries, which along with 1a's 98 and 1b’s 198 brought the total field up to 521 total entries, shattering the $300k guarantee with one flight left to go.

At the end of the third starting flight, just 24 players bagged and tagged with Luke Goodwillie finding himself atop the chip counts with a healthy 802,000, good enough for the overall chip lead thus far.

Dennis Stevermer found himself on the right side of a heater, securing a double elimination to end the day with 612,000 while Charles Telle (514,000), Nathan Crookshank (450,000), and Woody Christy (436,000), rounded out the top five stacks of the flight.

They were joined by MSPT Hall of Famer Rob WazWaz (408,000), Renato Spahiu (405,000), Colden Carlson (404,000), and MSPT champ’s Lee Rzentowski (188,000) & Ari Engel (122,000).

All surviving players from the starting flights will return at 11:00 a.m. local time Sunday, July 21st to play down to a winner.

Action folded to Ron McMillen who looked down at his cards and called off his 200,000 stack from the big blind.

Stevermer was ahead holding a made hand of kings and enjoyed the flop that gave him top set.

The turn came the giving Hammers a glimmer of hope with a Broadway draw, but the completed the board on the river securing Stevermer the double elimination to hit the hard stop with 4:33 remaining in Level 15.

The player under the gun limped-in only to have Jason Bender raise all in for 104,000 next to act.

Action quickly folded to MSPT Hall of Famer Rob WazWaz who snap-called from the small blind, prompting a fold from the player under the gun.

The MSPT Heads to Grand Falls August 9th - 11th!

Once again, the MSPT is headed to Grand Falls Casino in Larchwood, IA from August 9th - 11th!

A series of $70 and $265 satellites will feed into the $1,110 buy-in MSPT261 Main Event, which requires players be 21+ to play.

The tournament, which boasts a $300K GTD, will offer two starting flights with Day 1a beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9th, with Day 1b following suit at the same time on Saturday, August 10th.

The surviving players from the starting flights will return at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 11th, to play down to a winner.

Also, on that Sunday, there will be a $250 NLH Last Chance Showdown Event beginning at Noon.

Big Slick Comes Through for McMillen's Double

Ron McMillen raised from middle position only to call a three-bet Renato Spahiu made from late position.

The two went heads-up to a flop and McMillen check-jammed for 118,000 after Spahiu continued for 50,000.

At the halfway point of the 15th season, the MSPT traveled back to Riverside Casino to host its first trophy event series.

In Event #2: $200 No-Limit Hold'em Epic Stack, 195 epic players went to the felt and generated a $31,200 prize pool that was paid out to the top 21 players.

Among those to cash but fall before the final table were Brian Caroll (10th Place - $593), Tracy Porter (11th Place - $593), Gwen Martin (14th Place - $468), John Dillon (16th Place - $406), Nicholas Lentz (18th Place - $406), and Chandon Hinton (21st Place - $374).

Coming out on top was David Kalinchinsky of Milan, IL who claimed the $8,112 top prize, along with the second Sapdey trophy of the series!
