After 15 levels of play, the third flight of the $1,100 East Chicago Main Event has seen its starting field of 244 entrants reduced to just 26. Each one of the surviving players will join the 19 from Day 1B, the 12 players from Day 1A, and the players from the following flight on Monday, September 2nd to play for the $500,000 guaranteed prize pool.
Leading the field is Silvan Barbura who secured his first ever MSPT cash with a massive stack of 627,000. Barbura has been a regular on the midwestern circuit for a while as he final tabled the WSOPC Main Event last year at Hammond nearby. Today he was of the many who ascended high up the leaderboards and he looks to use his familiarity of the player pool and area to his advantage to take down his first MSPT title.

Chris Meyers (571,000) ended the day in second in chips, making the player of the year implications quite interesting as he currently sits in first on the leaderboard and will be looking to extend his lead with another deep run this season. Brett “Pops” Reichard (551,000) will be joining his son on Monday with the bigger stack in the hopes to conquer his first MSPT title. They will be the second father-son duo in the field so far in Day 2.
Keeping with the theme of familial ties, MSPT champion Rob Wazwaz (412,000) and his cousin Steve Wazwaz (273,000) both found bags at the end of their days. Others that found their way to bags included Shiva Dudani (457,000), Angela Jordison (343,000), Michael Estes (336,000), and Andy Rogowski (173,000). Each of them are looking for another piece of MSPT history for themselves. Not all survived to the end of the day. DJ Buckley, Aaron Massey, Ralph Massey, Scott Sisler, John Reading, Joe Batterman, and Ari Engel will each have one more day to play in their quest for a Day 2 bag.
Play ended with 28:15 left in level 15 with blinds at 3,000/6,000, and a 6,000 big blind ante. They will return to the level reached on Day 1a unless the following flight ends earlier. Stay tuned to MSPTPoker.com for all updates on the $1,100 Main Event at East Chicago.
