MSPT Champ Mo Nuwwarah Able to Secure Top Spot After Nine Players Advance After Day 1A

Day 1a of the MSPT Riverside $1,110 Main Event is officially in the books with 89 total entries tallied during the first flight.

After a hard stop was reached with 36:57 remining in Level 16, MSPT champ and bracelet winner Mo Nuwwarah was sitting atop of the chip counts after putting a respectable 628,000 into his bag to end the night, leading the nine advancing players.

Bagging behind Nuwwarah was Ramon Ziadeh, who sat atop the counts for most the evening and ended the night with 491,000 while Jesse Green (317,000), two-time MSPT champ Kenneth Baime (257,000), and back-to-back Player of the Year Umut Ozturk (242,000) rounded out the top five stacks of the flight.

Other who found a Day 2 berth after the first starting flight included David Grandin (234,000), MSPT Hall of Famer Rob WazWaz (219,000), Kevin Berthelsen (147,000), and Jacob Long (134,000).

Among those to try and fall on Day 1a included MSPT champ Jeff Copeland, Cord Kleist, Tony Olguin, Shiva Dudani, and MSPT champ Ben Pettinger, just to name a few.

Those players, as well as any newcomers, have two more starting flights to jump back into action.

Day 1b will kick off at 2:00 p.m. local time Friday, while the third and final flight, Day 1c, will take place at the same time on Saturday.

The surviving players from each flight will then return at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday to play down to a winner.

Chris Maltsburger was all in preflop for 17,000 and found three callers that saw a flop.

Action was then checked to the turn where back-to-back Player of the Year Umut Ozturk led out with an uncontested 16,000 bet, and the two hands were tabled.

Action quickly folded back to Green who tossed out a call, and all three hands were tabled.
