Four-Time MSPT Champ Dan Bekavac Soars to the Top to Lead 27 Survivors After Day 1B

A lengthy day of 15 levels has wrapped up during the MSPT $1,110 Main Event at Riverside Casino as Day 1b drew 251 entries to bring the two-day total thus far to 340, blasting past the $300K GTD with tomorrow’s final flight still to go.

Of those 251 entries, only 27 players remained when chips went into bags with 5:05 remaining in the final level as four-time MSPT champ Dan Bekavac went on a late-night heater to bag the top stack once again at Riverside.

After starting to catch some traction in Level 14, Bekavac then finished the night by eliminating Mike Hancock on the bubble to take a whopping 909,000 into Day 2.

Coming in behind Bekavac was Mitch Dahl who was able to put 640,000 in his bag while Matt Porter doubled his stack size in the final hand of the night with a pair of ladies to end with 565,000.

Rounding out the top five stacks were Jordan Lawrence (525,000), and MSPT Hall of Famer Josh Reichard (521,000) while Shiva Dudani (429,000) was the only other player to bag north of 400k.

Fellow MSPT Hall of Famer’s Gerald Cunniff (355,000) & Keith Heine (189,000), DJ Buckley (165,000), Kyle Wagner (134,000), and MSPT champ’s Anthony Scarborough (131,000) & Joe Matheson (128,000) were just a few more of the players to add their names to the Day 2 roster along with the nine to have already advanced from Day 1a.

Mike Hancock was all in for 91,000 from the button and four-time MSPT champ Dan Bekavac looked him up from the big blind.

Hancock was racing for his tournament life but fell behind after a jack appeared in the window on the flop.

The turn left Hancock needing a six on the river to stay alive, but the completed the board on the river eliminating him on the bubble.

Action folded back to Petronack who four-bet jammed for 403,000 and Reichard called off his 368,000 stack.

After two initial limpers, four-time MSPT champ Dan Bekavac raised from the small blind and only Mike Hancock called from the hijack.

Once the flop fell, Bekavac led out with a 22,000 continuation bet and Hancock called bringing the turn.

Bekavac fired out a 45,000 bet and then called off his 235,000 stack after Hancock raised all in for more.
