Michael Hindi Catapults to the Top Leading 10 Advancing Players After Day 1A
Created (5/2/2025 1:43:32 AM by Anthony Thompson)

Day 1a of the MSPT Season 16 100 GRAND STACK Series $1,110 Main Event at Sycuan Casino & Resort is officially in the books with 82 total entries tallied during the first flight.

With action needing to play down to 11% of the field, almost full 16 levels were needed to hit that mark with the hard stop being reached with 8:50 remaining at 10,000/20,000/20,000.

When chips finally went into bags, it was Michael Hindi who found himself atop the chip counts after putting a respectable 1,895,000 on his slip to end the night, leading the 10 advancing players by a wide margin.

Bagging behind Hindi was Anthony Bland, who was the only other player to clip the milly mark as he ended the night with 1,165,000.

Denver’s Kelly Mahana saw his chip stack balloon up to 970,000, catching some late-night steam to bag the same amount as 2021 Sycuan Reginal champ Armando Mesina (970,000).

Armando Mesina

Jonathan Larkin (910,000) rounded out the top five bagging just under a milly while David Leese (560,000), Brad Sailor(510,000), Jeremy Mintz (505,000), Kenny Hirose (440,000), and Evan Lindemann (2800,000) all punched their ticket into Sunday’s Day 2 as well.

Jake Long

Among those to try and fall on Day 1a included Robert Fortuno, Jacob Long, Adrian Lopez, Riley Dieckhoff, and Rip Fritzer, just to name a few.

Rip Fritzer

Those players, as well as any newcomers, have two more starting flights to jump back into action.

Day 1b will be the first starting tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. local time, while the third and final flight, Day 1c, will take place at the same time on Saturday.

The surviving players from each flight will then return at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday to play down to a winner.

Join us tomorrow as we continue to bring you all the action and eliminations straight from the tournament floor at Sycuan Casino & Resort!

Mammen Pays Off Larkin and Falls Shortly After
Created (5/2/2025 12:33:49 AM by Anthony Thompson)

Joshua Mammen and Jonathan Larkin were in a heads-up battle with a board showing.

Mammen checked his option from the hijack, only to call a 160,000 bet Larkin made directly to his left from the cutoff.

Once the paired the board on the river, Mammen checked his option one last time only to be faced with a 325,000 all-in bet from Larkin.

After a quick shrug of the shoulders, Mammen tossed out a call, and both hands were tabled.

Larkin soon revealed for a made hand of ladies and they were good as Mammen tossed into the muck.

Mammen was then left short and was eliminated a few hands later.

Hindi led out with a 150,000 bet and Jiang called to see the complete the board on the river.

A knock on the table from Hindi took action to Jiang who moved out a stack to T-25k chips in the middle to put Hindi’s remaining stack at risk.
