MSPT Hall of Famer Rob WazWaz Soars to the Top to Lead 31 Survivors After Day 1B of the MSPT Season 16 Iowa Poker State Championship

A lengthy day of 16 levels has wrapped up during the MSPT Season 16 Iowa Poker State Championship at Riverside Casino as Day 1b drew 278 entries to bring the two-day total thus far to 406, guaranteeing that the $500K GTD will be surpassed with tomorrow’s final flight still to go.

Of those 278 entries, only 31 players remained when chips went into bags, with MSPT Hall of Famer and bracelet winner Rob WazWaz going on a late-night heater to bag the overall top stack thus far.

After starting to catch some traction after registration closed, WazWaz then finished the night by eliminating fellow Hall of Famer Josh Reichard on the bubble to take a whopping 593,000 into Day 2.

Coming in behind WazWaz was Freeman Kauffman, who collected 518,000 to put in his bag, while Michael Kreutzer was the only other to clip the 500k mark as he will take 507,000 into Day 2.

Rounding out the top five stacks were Mike Estes (476,000) and Jacob Long (464,000), while the last lady standing, Marianne Sutter (447,000), was the only other player to bag north of 400k.

Others who survived the second starting flight included Mario Hudson (396,000), Phil Mader (356,000), George Dietz (325,000), MSPT champ’s Anthony Scarborough (218,000) & Timothy Gundrum (137,000), and two-time MSPT champ Tim Thorp (126,000) as they were just a few more of the players to add their names to the Day 2 roster along with the 15 to have already advanced from Day 1a.

Among those to fire and fall on Day 1b included MSPT champ Jon Kim, Sarah Stefan, Justin Coliny, Greg Asche, and MSPT Hall of Famer Keith Heine, to name a few.

Those players, as well as any newcomers, have one last starting flight to jump back into action with Day 1c starting tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.

Late registration and re-entries will remain open through Level 12 (approximately 10:40 p.m.).

MSPT Hall of Famer Rob WazWaz opened for 18,000 from middle position and then called fellow Hall of Famer Josh Reicahrd’s 72,000 three-bet jam from the cutoff.

Both players rolled over live cards, and it WazWaz who connected with the flop to take a commanding lead.

The turn did pair Reichard, giving him outs heading to the river, but the completed the board and ended his night on the bubble.
