MSPT Hall of Famer Josh Reichard Claims Top Spot After Day 1A
Created 7/19/2024 2:29:45 AM CST by Anthony Thompson

Day 1a of the MSPT Season 15 Iowa State Poker Championship at Riverside Casino is officially in the books with 98 total entries tallied during the first flight.

With action needing to play down to 11% of the field, almost full 16 levels were needed to hit that mark.

Once the hard stop was reached, MSPT Hall of Famer Josh Reichard found himself atop of the chip counts after putting a respectable 681,000 into his bag to end the night, leading the 10 advancing players.

Bagging a close second was two-time MSPT champ John Sun, who was neck-and-neck with Reichard for most of the later levels and ended the night with 568,000.

Jeff Kenny saw his chip stack ballon up to 385,000 after he rivered quads to beat Angela Jordison’s turned straight while Jack Armstrong eliminated Dan Haley in the final hand of the evening to finish with 260,000.

Jack Armstrong

Kurt Bales sat atop of the chip counts for majority of the day and was able to find a top five stack after bagging 259,000, while Jesse Green (155,000), Anthony Sedlak (154,000), and Brad Sailor (118,000) punched their ticket into Sunday’s Day 2 as well.

Among those to try and fall on Day 1a included Nik Stone, four-time MSPT champ Dan Bekavac, MSPT champ Ben Pettinger, Justin Gish, and Darin Utley, just to name a few.

Those players, as well as any newcomers, have three more starting flights to jump back into action.

Day 1b will kick off at 3:00 p.m. local time Friday, while Day 1c will be getting started bright and early at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, followed by Day 1d at 3:00 p.m.

The surviving players from each flight will then return at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday to play down to a winner.

MSPT Announces Its 2024 Icons
Created 7/19/2024 1:34:40 AM CST by Anthony Thompson

Over the past 15 years, the MSPT has been keeping track of our player's stats on our "Leaderboards" page creating one of the best player databases in the industry.

The list includes things such as Career Earnings, Main Event Cashes, Main Event Titles, Total Cashes, Most Cashes/Final Tables in a Season, Most Final Tables All-Time, GOAT Rankings, and now MSPT Icons!

This magnificent group of players have accomplished significant feats on the MSPT felt since the Tour launched in December of 2009 to separate themselves from their peers.

MSPT Icons are players currently ranked in the Top 10 of the MSPT GOAT Leaderboard or have earned their way into the MSPT Hall of Fame by achieving significant milestones.

Each MSPT season, Icons will have the opportunity to compete against other Icons for a prize.

This season, the prize will be a $10,400 entry into the World Poker Tour® (WPT) World Championship this upcoming December at Wynn Las Vegas as well as an award for MSPT Icon of the Year.

The competition for Season 15 (half season this year) will start this week at Riverside Casino July 18-21 and end on December 15, 2024.

The MSPT Icon Leaderboard will be based on the current MSPT Player of the Year point system, with each Icon starting at zero points as of today.

There are 16 eligible Icons this season. Going forward, the reigning Player of the Year will get a 1-year Icon status as well.

Next season (Season 16), the Icon competition will start on January 1, 2025. Players with a Top 10 GOAT status as of December 15, 2024, or are currently in the HOF, will be eligible to compete next season.

Should a player enter into the Top 10 GOAT Leaderboard in the middle of a season, they are not eligible to compete until the following season if they are still in the Top 10 on December 15.

Should a player fall off the Top 10 GOAT Leaderboard in the middle of a season, they still remain in the competition for that particular season, but will not be eligible the following year should they not regain their Top 10 status by December 15 of that year.
