Day 1a of the second-ever MSPT 2025 Wisconsin Poker State Championship has come to an end at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, with the opening flight tallying 346 entries to kick things off.
With action needing to play down to 11% of the field, almost full 17 levels were required to hit that mark, with the hard stop being reached with 12:45 remaining at 20,000/30,000/30,000.
When chips finally went into bags, it was Wisconsin native Fabian Bump who found himself atop the chip counts, leading the 39 advancing players after putting a respectable 2,595,000 on his slip to end the night, edging out MSPT champ Craig Trost (2,345,000) and Nathan Rivera (2,245,000) as they were the only others to clip the two-milly mark.

Rounding out the top five stacks after the first flight were Forrest Georgiles (1,725,000) & Waiken Soo (1,705,000), while two-time MSPT champ Jeremy Dresch (1,420,000), Steve Buell (1,356,000), and five-time MSPT champ Blake Bohn (1,065,000) all passed the milly marker for Day 2.
Christie Yau
Others who found a Day 2 berth included Paul Gibbons (975,000), Bohdan Slyvinskyi (955,000), Christie Yau (735,000), MSPT Hall of Famer Josh Reichard (540,000), and George Pappas (495,000).
MSPT Hall of Famer Gerald Cunniff
Among those to try and fall on Day 1a included MSPT Hall of Famer Gerald Cunniff, WSOP bracelet winner Brad Jansen, Chuck Kersey, Joseph Elpayaa, and MSPT champ Curtis Vierstraete, just to name a few.

Those players, as well as any newcomers, have two more starting flights to jump back into action.
Day 1b will kick off at noon local time on Friday, while the third and final flight, Day 1c, will take place at the same time on Saturday.
The surviving players from each flight will then return at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday to play down to a winner.
