Dana Isaacson leads as 22 advance from Day 1C of MSPT Canterbury Park

Day 1C of the latest MSPT Canterbury Park attracted 179 runners, which along with 1A’s 112 and 1B’s 165 brought the total field up to 456 entries. That means the top 54 players will get paid a minimum of $1,984 and the ultimate winner will walk away with a $94,776 first-place prize.

By the end of the night, just 22 remained with Dana Isaacson and his stack of 419,000 leading the way. That is ahead of both 1B chip leader Kanat Ozturk (393,000) and MSPT Season 7 Player of the Year Rich Alsup (320,500), who led the Day 1A flight.

Other big stacks from 1C were Dedric Henderson (348,500), Alex Juedes (334,000), Jesse Allen (333,000), and Hank Mlekoday (297,500), who round out the top five.

Others to make it through were Bill Criego (169,000), Joel Klipping (99,000), James Gibson (85,000), Minnesota Poker Hall of Famer Michael Schneider (63,500), and Vic Peppe (47,500).

Among those to try and fall on Day 1C were WSOP bracelet winner John Reading, four-time WSOP Circuit ring winner Mark Fink, current Kimo Sabe Mezcal MSPT Season 9 POY points leader Aaron Johnson, nine-time WSOP Circuit ring winner Josh Reichard, 2018 MSPT Iowa State Poker Champ Brian Soja, and Colorado’s Drew Shulz and Sammy Aweida.

The surviving 58 (14 from 1A, 22 1B, 22 1C) players will return at 11 a.m. on Sunday to play down to a winner.

The field has reached 22 players, which means play has come to a stop on Day 1C. There is 35:53 left on the clock in Level 15, which means that is where all returning players will pick up action on Sunday’s Day 2.

2018 MSPT Michigan State Poker Championship at FireKeepers Casino October 6-14

The MSPT is returning to FireKeepers Casino October 6-14 for the 2018 MSPT Michigan State Poker Championship. The stop, which requires players be 21 or older to play, is looking to generate a seven-figure prize pool for the fourth time in a row.

A series of $65 and $250 satellites will take place in the weeks leading up to the $1,100 buy-in, $300,000 guarantee Main Event, which runs October 11-14.

The Main Event will feature three starting flights – all with a noon start time - beginning with Day 1A on Thursday, October 11. Days 1B and 1C will then be on Friday, October 12 and Saturday, October 13 respectively. The remaining players from each flight will combine on Sunday, October 14 at 11:00 a.m. and play until a champion is crowned.

The Main Event final table will be broadcast LIVE (15-minute delay) worldwide on msptpoker.com using RFID technology allowing all viewers to see the hole cards. In addition, the entirety of the Main Event will be live reported in the MSPT's live blog.

Hank Mlekoday Finishes Off Max Havlish

Hank Mlekoday raised to 6,500 from UTG+1, and Mike Schneider called next to act. Max Havlish then three-bet shoved for 45,000 from the lojack, and action folded back to Mlekoday. He thought for a bit before announcing a call, and Schneider mucked.

Havlish found no immediate help on the flop, and the turn left him searching for an ace or queen. The was a brick for Havlish, and he wished the table good luck before exiting the tournament area.

Zach Warren Doubles Through Leonard Kulenkamp

Action folded to Leonard Kulenkamp on the button and he raised to 5,000. Zach Warren then moved all in for 51,000 from the small blind and Kulenkamp called.

It was a flip but not after the flop came down to give Warren a set. The turn left Kulenkamp drawing dead and he sent over the chips after the was run out on the river.

The Koua Her Roller Coaster Continues

Alex Juedes raised to 4,600 from UTG and was called by the cutoff, as well as Max Havlish on the button, before Koua Her three-bet shoved for 37,400 from the small blind. Juedes called and the cutoff and Havlish folded.

The flop brought a round of “Ooooh’s” from the table, as Her now had a gutshot straight flush draw to go with his overs. The ultimate turn card hit, as the gave Her a flush but also gave Juedes a set and plenty of outs of his own with a full house and quads to draw to. The river kept Her’s flush in front, and he shipped the double.

Moon Ahmed ripped his last 14,100 from the lojack, and Vic Peppe put him at risk with a call in the cutoff.
