Day 1C of the latest MSPT Canterbury Park attracted 179 runners, which along with 1A’s 112 and 1B’s 165 brought the total field up to 456 entries. That means the top 54 players will get paid a minimum of $1,984 and the ultimate winner will walk away with a $94,776 first-place prize.
By the end of the night, just 22 remained with Dana Isaacson and his stack of 419,000 leading the way. That is ahead of both 1B chip leader Kanat Ozturk (393,000) and MSPT Season 7 Player of the Year Rich Alsup (320,500), who led the Day 1A flight.
Other big stacks from 1C were Dedric Henderson (348,500), Alex Juedes (334,000), Jesse Allen (333,000), and Hank Mlekoday (297,500), who round out the top five.
Others to make it through were Bill Criego (169,000), Joel Klipping (99,000), James Gibson (85,000), Minnesota Poker Hall of Famer Michael Schneider (63,500), and Vic Peppe (47,500).
Among those to try and fall on Day 1C were WSOP bracelet winner John Reading, four-time WSOP Circuit ring winner Mark Fink, current Kimo Sabe Mezcal MSPT Season 9 POY points leader Aaron Johnson, nine-time WSOP Circuit ring winner Josh Reichard, 2018 MSPT Iowa State Poker Champ Brian Soja, and Colorado’s Drew Shulz and Sammy Aweida.
The surviving 58 (14 from 1A, 22 1B, 22 1C) players will return at 11 a.m. on Sunday to play down to a winner.
