Igor Ioffe Leads As 41 Advance from Day 1B of MSPT Cleveland Poker Open at JACK Cleveland Casino
Created (1/18/2019 10:48:04 PM by Admin System)

The second-ever MSPT stop in Ohio continued on Friday with the second of three starting flights in the $1,100 buy-in, $300K GTD Cleveland Poker Open. Day 1B brought 265 entrants to JACK Cleveland Casino, again crushing last year’s Day 1B flight of 182 entries. With 422 entrants total after two flights, the state record for largest prize pool and and number of entrants for a single tournament, that was set by this very event last year, looks like it will be shattered with one flight remaining. After 15 levels of play only 41 remained with Igor Ioffe and his stack of 334,000 on top of the counts. Ioffe, from Reminderville, Ohio, has only six recorded cashes on Hendon Mob, but three of those were deep runs in the WSOP Main Event, showing that Ioffe has the chops to navigate huge fields.

Other big stacks include Vitaliy Neyman (318,500), Michael Pempin (291,500), Matt Harvey (240,500), and two-time WSOP Bracelet winner Adam Friedman (234,000). Some other notables that found a bag include Dante Powell (226,500), Minnesota’s Marc Harrell (177,500) and Sherry Hammers (161,000), John Mingus (143,500), Nick Davidson (140,500), Chris Moon (84,500), Alex Winter (65,500), and Mikiyo Aoki (63,500).

Not everyone was fortunate enough to survive to Day 2, including two-time MSPT champs Jason Zarlenga and Andy Rubinberg, two former MSPT POY winners Chris Meyers and Pat Steele, MSPT champs Ken Baime and Keith Heine, young phenom Ian Matakis, Brad Sailor, Season 9 MSPT Canterbury Park Finale runner-up Ronnie Lamb, and Gary Herstein.

Those players, as well as any newcomers, have one last chance to make Day 2. The third and final flight, Day 1C, will take place at the same time on Saturday. The surviving players from each flight will then return at 11 a.m. on Sunday to play down to a winner.

Join us tomorrow as we continue to bring you all the action and eliminations straight from the tournament floor of the JACK Cleveland Casino!

Jeff Scarborough

Jeff Scarborough limped into the pot from the lojack and was min-raisedby his opponent from the cutoff. Everyone else folded send them heads-up to the flop.

The flop came down and Scarborough checked to his opponent who bet 7,000. Scarborough made the call.

When the turn fell, Scarborough checked once more to his opponent that bet 12,000. This time Scarborough made his move and raised his opponent up to 28,000. His opponent quickly folded, and Scarborough picked up the pot.

Ronnie Lamb

The cutoff raised to 7,500, and Season 9 MSPT Canterbury Park runner-up Ronnie Lamb three-bet jammed for 22,700 from the big blind. The cutoff thought for a moment, then tossed in a call.

Lamb:
Opponent:

Lamb found a three on the flop, but unfortunately for him, his opponent found a jack and flush draw both on the flop. No additional three came on the turn or river, and Lamb hit the rail.

Dante Powell: "Finally Hit My Set!"
Created (1/18/2019 9:35:54 PM by Admin System)

Dante Powell

Dante Powell had his opponent all-in preflop, and Powell held Kx Kx. His opponent held and told him, ”It’s far from over.”

When the flop came down, it was the king that was in the window. Powell celebrated the set, and his opponent said once again, “its still far from over!”

When the hit the turn, Powell asked the dealer “be good to me Randy, be good to me Randy” and Randy was indeed good to Powell as he delivered the river card. Powell dropped the field for day 1B down to 50 players with that knockout.

Powell exclaimed so the whole card room could hear, “I finally hit my set!! I finally hit my set!! Thank you Randy, you WERE good to me!!”

A player raised to 5,500 from the lojack, and Ian Richardson three-bet jammed for 24,200 from the hijack. Action folded back to the lojack who slammed in a call.

Richardson:
Opponent:

Created (1/18/2019 9:18:16 PM by Admin System)

Adam Friedman

Alec Lenander raised to 5,000 from early position and only Adam Friedman made the call.

Lenander continued for 4,000 bet on the flop and Friedman quickly tossed in calling chips.

On the turn, Lenader checked, after a minute, Friedman bet 12,500.

Lenander double checked his cards before sending them to the muck.

Friedman smiled, “I just flopped a set.”
